Graf

The title of Graf is one that is used by the highest level of nobility left in the Known World. After the Emperor of Man, Sigmar, ascended into godhood, the empire he left behind was left to the Reiksgraf, the counsel of elector grafs. The grafs within a few generations had torn apart the empire with infighting and plays for power. The Known World is now in a state where each city and town is under the control a local graf and their own personal armies. The graf of each province has a continual game of pining for power against the other grafs.   This title is passed down hereditarily, though it is affiliated with a location as in the Graf of Walfeste.

ALTGRAF

The title of Alfgraf (under graf) is one given to the lower nobility who are the rulers of the smaller towns and settlements of the Known World.

DEALING WITH A GRAF

As the highest title of nobility in the Known World, grafs therefore see themselves as the paragon of high class society. In the court of a graf, there is pomp, flair, and pageantry. Courtiers engage in the struggle and politics that lie there, which are almost as dangerous as a stroll through the Dark Woods. Things that may sit you will with the graf may also paint a nice target to be run through with a stiletto.
