The Ithil Wood
Information
The Ithil wood is a expansive forest covered in a veil of moonlight. This ancient wood inhabited by the Fey, and most notable the illustrious and ever enigmatic Elves. This forest is inbued with a primordial magic. The very wood is said to be enchanted and nourishing to all that respect the forest. The elves special conection with this ancient wood, is what gives them such inate abbilities with magic. The very roots, samplings, and forest creature are sacred to the Elves, who champion themselves as gaurdians of the forest.
Ecosystem
The wood is said to inhabit all manner of wildlife, fairy folk, and primevil beasts long feared by mankind. Giant creatures that live amongst the rock and wood. The Fey creatures taking great delight in trickery, mislead all who enter the wood. The very fauna and flora compelled by the will of Fey are all in service of the sacred wood. Deer and rabits alike are said to hold higher intellect, and coordinate attacks against all who the forest deem enemies. The top of this natural order of course being the Elves, and even above them the Great Tree. All Life in this land serving as limbs for the promordial tree.
Elves
The Elves argulable the oldest of the modern races, have named themselves the gaurdians of the Ithil Wood. Living lives for so long that they would be considered immortal by most. Their immortality being owed to their sacred conection to the Tree of isilmë (Moonlight) and their service to the natural order of the tree, they are granted eternal life. Although this immortality comes to end when an elf chooses to leave the boundaries of the The Ithil woods. Many mortals often wonder why would anyone forsake such a gift, but what some may consider a gift may be a curse to some.
The oldest of the Elves, the great matriarch, and some believe to be the mother of all elves, The Eternal Queen Elbereth. A god in the flesh, an envoy of the great tree she translates the language of the wood to all who listen. Her love vast but her scorn just as mighty, she gave the final order to banish humanity from their lands.
