Esme was born to a wealthy family in Vaultreach, capital of Azica. She was not of royal blood herself, so rather than legitimately marrying a King, she was able to become the mistress of King Remus Thronekeep of Galowith. In doing so, she gave up her citizenship of Azica.

Family Ties
The King and Esme have a daughter, Mirabelle Thronekeep. Esme is an excellent mother, and devotes a lot of her time to her daughter.
