The Lands of Ruəna were once a world of powerful magic civilizations and advanced empires. This suddenly ended when Ruəna suffered a terrible cataclysm when the surrounding planes collapsed inward to the material plane and devastated both Ruəna and the multiverse. Nothing escaped the devastating effects, an estimated 90% of all creatures where destroyed in The Collapse or the ensuing chaos. The Gods themselves were flung down from their seats of power, and faced mortality for the first time in existence. What aberrations survived from abyss ran rampant in the material plane. Many survivors found shelter under the rule of the fallen Gods, for while they may have lost significant might, their power still was a force to feared.   Many centuries have past and the world is rebuilding. The planes slowly pull away from the material plane as the universe tries to heal. Grand cities now stand as bulwarks against the monstrosities that still roam the lands. Much of the world still remains abandoned, slowing eroding and covering what once was.

Lands Overrun

After The Collapse the Lands of Ruəna have become overrun with denizens of all planes of existence. Travel has become exceptionally dangerous, but trade continues regardless for there are always brave individuals. The Safest method of travel are arcane airships which are able to avoid most dangers. Unfortunately, due to their scarcity they are far too costly for most creatures of the realm.

Damaged Weave

All magic comes from The Weave which flows throughout the world, touching almost every corner of existence. The Collapse left grave wounds on magic itself. Mystra, Goddess of Magic, sacrificed herself to repair The Weave and prevent further ruin to the world. But some scars remain, Ruəna suffers from wild magic storms and magical dead zones where the weave can not reach.
