Session 3: Etta, Mist, and Magic Report
General Summary
The party ventured west, skirting the edge of the Ravine before heading east along a worn path where they encountered Etta, an elderly woman in distress. They decided to aid her, carrying her northward where they faced a goblin blockade. In a fierce battle, Krenko, the goblin boss, fell to the party, and Etta used her last ounce of strength to annihilate a group of goblins—and tragically, herself. Jaque managed to salvage some treasures from a nearby wagon, while Thoralf claimed a special dagger from Krenko’s corpse.
As they continued, they found Etta had slipped into a catatonic state. Despite their grim efforts to end her suffering, she persisted, leading them to sever her head and carry it in Buzzbee's backpack as they moved on.
The path led to a grassy hilltop with a breathtaking view of a valley framed by towering mountains. Dragons soared between the peaks, prompting the party to wisely backtrack and traverse the eerie Gloomhaven Thicket instead. Amidst the dense firs and spruce, a thick mist enveloped them. Drawn by the distant sound of humming and a campfire, they encountered a nobly dressed man whose unsettling presence chilled their bones. After touching Amara and Buzzbee, he vanished into the night, leaving them with ominous visions and cryptic messages about their destinies.
Their tension was soon overshadowed by the threat of lurking predators. The crunch of leaves heralded the arrival of three menacing Allosauruses. Despite their attempts at stealth, the creatures were relentless. In a desperate moment, Buzzbee used thaumaturgy to distract the beasts, but one caught her, causing grievous injuries. Miraculously, Etta's head summoned the power to fly, whisking Buzzbee to the relative safety of the treetops.
Jaque, Amara, and Thoralf managed to find refuge in the branches above, avoiding the snapping jaws of the Allosauruses below. After a tense night perched in the trees, they descended at dawn, battered but alive. They treated their wounds, and Buzzbee, despite her severe injuries, skillfully cauterized them to prevent infection. The ordeal earned them valuable experience, advancing them to level three.
Now, more battle-scarred and hardened than ever, the party is determined to press forward through the forest, uncertain of what challenges lie ahead but ready to face them together.
