Dante Reyes

His life began on the docks of Van'Duras. Dante was an impoverished, abandoned child who grew up on the streets. He was forced to become a scrapper to stand against older children, criminals, and authority figures -- out-punching and out-maneuvering threats to his safety. The only stability in his early life was won by joining criminal organizations in the less reputable sections of the Hegemony. 
Things took a rapid turn after a young Dante was approached by Archmage Carabanis, a chief researcher at the Estuvaris Institute of Arcane Arts -- the most prestigious arcane academy in the land. Soon, this expendable street urchin would become a powerful crime lord with a syndicate spanning across two different worlds.

An Arcane Explorer

Dante's upbringing as an unwanted street urchin made him an ideal candidate for a risk experiment. He and several other young adults were approached by Archmage Ilvaer Carabanis and asked to participate in a magic "test," with the promise of considerable pay. Seeking connections and resources, Dante accepted the offer. Carabanis and his associates were attempting to bypass normal wards on divination and teleportation, and had inadvertently discovered a means to reach other spheres -- other worlds on the Material Plane. 
Dante and his peers were sent through an unstable arcane gate as the wizards of Estuvaris attempted to established a permanent anchor to at least one world. What happened to the others is unknown, but Dante successfully made contact with a strange new plane dominated solely by humans. A place called "Texas." 
His success led to more expeditions, and Dante became Carabanis's scout into this new world -- his eyes and ears. The details of these early adventures are not known, but it seems that Dante found a paramour during his stay in Texas, and their relationship led to the birth of Hart Reign. And at least one additional child, Solidad. 

Crime Syndicate

Given additional freedoms by Carabanis, Reyes began transporting goods back and forth between planes, leading to considerable money on either end of the trade route. He expanded this criminal organization to Earth-based crime, expanding through much of the southern "United States." 
Hart has indicated that he was a domineering, controlling person who did not take threats lightly. Though his methods were harsh, and he had a dedicated plan for his children that they did not necessarily agree with, Dante maintains that family means everything to him. And he will do anything to protect that family. 
Eventually, he came into conflict with his children. Hart has mentioned that his sister killed Dante and took over the family business -- seeking to make it legitimate. And that she has done a "much better job running it" than Dante ever did. 

Escape Back to Verden

Dante's body was returned to Verden, and he was seemingly resurrected through magical methods. Since his "death" on Earth, Dante has instead doubled down on maintaining a business in Van'Duras. DR Enterprises is, by all accounts, a legitimate logistics company licensed by the Hegemony to move trade goods and correspondence throughout the continent. And seems quite lucrative. But it seems that they smuggle magical goods to Texas; namely health potions that can be used in prize fights and other high stakes sporting events to swing the victory to a specific athlete. It's a "side business" worth millions.
He also sponsors other businesses -- such as the Ring of Fire combat arena in Van'Duras. 

Reunion With Hart

Dante approached Hart at the start of autumn in the year 732, having heard of his exploits. He offered Hart a chance to escape the law and rejoin the family business, hoping to spare him from "the hammer that's about to come down." But Hart refused, saying that he made his own choices and will live with the consequences of his actions, refusing to trust his father. 
Dante was deeply disappointed, and left immediately.

Employment

Dante owns and operates DR Enterprises, a logistical company in the Hegemony. He often delegates duties to other personnel to avoid public sight. DR Enterprises also smuggles magical elixirs to Earth to make illegal profits.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Dante is a collector of antique firearms, and has masterful marksmanship. His weapon of choice appears to be a Colt Dragoon modified to use "modern" bullets.

Morality & Philosophy

Dante Reyes is known to be a ruthless individual, but has a soft spot for the concept of family due to his own lonely upbringing. He just thinks family should..... behave in a certain, equally ruthless manner. His "dedication" to his family veers into violent obsession, lashing out against external threats and enforcing obedience within said family. He places himself and his loved ones above all others, and according to Hart has few moral qualms. Though he did appear wary of introducing certain Earth technologies to Verden for fear of ramifications.
