Kassan

A drow from the Labyrinth, Kassan specialized in scouting through the Underdark and has trained himself to blend in with the shadows. Don't let his dashing good looks and Gloomstalker skills fool you. This man is a himbo. Not a thought that pretty head. Because of this, everyone (but Talitha) adores him.

Backstory

Kassan was allegedly born near Aetharis, one of the Drow City-States in the Underdark, but was orphaned and left behind in one of the region's many tunnels. Labyrinth soldiers escorting an envoy back from the City-States found him and subsequently adopted him. During his early childhood, the Innagos War was still raging, and he looked up to Selena and other military leaders as heroes.
As a young lad, he befriended another orphan child of a similar age named Eliana. They were often in the same training group. Their traits naturally balanced each other. Eliana was smart but taciturn, and Kassan was charming but dumb as a brick. Kassan was excellent at socializing to pick up new information, though he often didn't remember it afterward. Eliana helped him through most of his classes and was usually around to hover ominously during conversations so that she could remember important things.
By the time he became a teenager, Kassan showed a natural talent for three things -- fucking, rolling joints, and archery. Possibly in that order.
Unfortunately, he didn't show much promise as a warrior. A younger Kassan was easily confused and overwhelmed. He had trouble following orders, especially after Eliana left his side to study blood magic at Dysteris. Commanders were consistently surprised that he survived monster attacks through what appeared to be sheer luck. During this time, he served as a scout within Selena's warband and very much looked up to her.

The Infernal Invasion

Devil armies invaded the Labyrinth and supposedly killed Selena and Chikara on the first day of the attack. Caught entirely off guard, the Labyrinth struggled to maintain a solid defense. Kassan spent most of this time as a scout and combat medic -- trained to use poultices to heal soldiers and bring them back to safe barricades.
Monsters were one thing, though. A seemingly endless army of intelligent devils? That was a whole new threat. Wisp eventually decided that Kassan was ill-suited to frontline combat and did not want him to die. Knowing that she needed to send at least a few agents up to the surface world to assist the Legends Alliance, she thought Kassan would be comfortable working for Gertrude Aryn in Hatena, where threats were relatively minor.

Hatena -- It's Not Safe

Kassan assisted Gertie Aryn for a year before he got a little too plastered celebrating his birthday at Wavebreaker. While intoxicated, he was lured away by a gaggle of gnomes and escorted to meet their "Radiant Lady," who turned out to be a succubus. He spent the next two days enthralled by her in the ruins of a Hall of Heroes fort. Until he was rescued by the party!
They took him back to Gertie and he assisted the Alliance in hunting down Alleviator Hector Torrin, who had been assigned by Olimandias to pressure Hatena into joining the Hegemony. He and Kira had a brief romantic encounter before he decided to answer an emergency letter from the Labyrinth recalling all personnel. He gained some confidence from his days with the party and decided he should step up to defend his homeland. He departed Hatena by boat to return to the Labyrinth.

Returning to the Labyrinth

Kassan spent the better part of a month traveling across the Lalvican Sea and the Innagos Desert until he reached the Taj-Nar Mountains, where he found a familiar tunnel entrance that led back to the Labyrinth. He was swiftly assigned to Devil Paladin's warband and resumed working as a scout and combat medic. This time, he fared a little better, gaining vital experience and solidifying his skills as a Gloomstalker. So long as someone told him what to do, he was an excellent shot!

Meeting the Party at the Chamber of Sages

Running low on magical weaponry, Kassan was dispatched to the Chamber of Sages with a stack of coin -- which he would trade for a powerful longbow named Venator. As it turned out, that longbow was currently held by Nôx. The money would be used to pay for his tuition as he retrained himself to become a wizard. The second part of Kassan's assignment was to serve as their guide into the Labyrinth.
Here, Kassan was reunited with Eliana! Who, much like everyone, was surprised he was still alive. Kassan "assisted" her while she taught a course on infernal behavior and tactics at the Chamber during this period of downtime.
He was then bullied by Talitha for four months.

Rescuing Selena

Upon learning of the party's true mission -- to rescue a still-living Selena from an Imprisonment spell -- he volunteered to join them for the whole adventure. This proved vital when Abbit disappeared during their period of downtime. He is now acting as the party's guide through the Infernal-held sections of the Labyrinth, acting as their eyes in the dark.
