Kira

Kira is a rogue with few memories and even fewer vital signs. Her body does not show any evidence of being alive -- her heart does not beat, she does not need to breathe, and her body doesn't even process food for energy. She has disjointed visions of past lives and is slowly assembling the pieces to try and discover her true origins.   She has discovered that she is the soul of Chikara Nadir reanimated into deceased bodies every time she is "killed." This is due to a Dark Boon given to her by Lazu on the day of her original death.   Kira has also recently become a paladin in Lazu's name, but has not yet grown powerful enough to take an oath.

Personal history

Backstory

There are two stories behind a person once known as Meera Cairthel.   The original Meera Cairthel was a sailor from Saravoss who served as a boatswain on a ship called The Equinox, and she was murdered in the Free City of Hatena in the year 730.   And then she woke back up in a dumpster. With no memories. This amnesiac "Meera" was saved by a sorceress named Gertrude Aryn and quickly discovered that she had many dormant skills and talents that made her an exceptional rogue -- and a few abilities that seemed to come out of nowhere and shift almost daily. This new Meera found that she did not need to sleep, drink, or eat. She didn't even need to breathe. She was different than everyone else, though she didn't understand why.   Gertie recruited her into the Legends Alliance and had her perform various operations in town to prevent the Hegemony from taking hold of the city.

Hatena

At Gertie's insistence, she began working with the party in Hatena to rescue Kassan, a Labyrinth scout who had recently gone missing. She was quickly smitten with him upon his rescue.   Shortly after his rescue, she ran into the crew of The Equinox in the local tavern, and so had her first major vision -- of being stabbed by one of the Equinox crew members and left for dead. But also various other confusing visions from different lives. Visions of being a mage. Visions of the Labyrinth and a fallen aasimar woman armed with a glaive.   Gertie then dispatched the party to eliminate Allieviator Torrin, an agent of the Hegemony who had been sent to pressure the town into giving up its full independence. Upon completing this task, she decided to keep traveling with them to seek answers about herself and why she was afflicted by this strange condition. She wanted to know where she came from.   She gradually began to form friendships with these new companions, including a surprisingly wholesome relationship with Piers and a bantering rivalry with Biscus the Bard.   On her travels, Kira has had continual visions of past lives. Among the first was a memory of living as a church-going elven woman, who was killed with divine smites delivered by Hegemony paladins after her "husband" reported her for being some kind of demon. Another life ended by falling off a cliff. A lifetime as a Gerudo warrior. A vision of being a male-half orc proficient with a heavy bow, who once found himself fighting through the halls of a palace or cathedral in Olimandias. Another vision of being a male wizard fighting Hegemony troops.

Glenien

Some of these lives were explained after running into that very wizard's apprentices -- Luka and Maxim Remarus. They said that Kira was a soul who, once slain, would reanimate into the nearest available fresh corpse. Her wizard lifetime was identified as being Archmage Carolus Therrien, a master necromancer who was obsessively studying the conditioned that plagued him. Carolus was eventually taken prisoner by the Hegemony for practicing the dark arts, and his research was taken to the Naydra Archives for secure storage away from the public. He chose to die in prison, hoping that he would simply jump bodies again. Which he did!   Once in Glenien, Kira met Sarael, Piers's mother, and learned that she had organized the infernal invasion of the Labyrinth. Sarael was upset that the queen of the Labyrinth had stolen her other child, Selena, and led numerous raids against the Hegemony. Between this and Sarael's indifference regarding Piers and his feelings, Kira immediately distrusted her and thought she was an antagonistic presence.   Kira helped kill the Scarred Devil along with her fellow adventurers and acquired all the items in his possession. Including an orb that linked him with Xer, a Twili who claimed be both a former member of the Labyrinth and a "chosen" cleric of Lazu. Curious.   After a celebration, Abbit decided to commune with his god, and accidentally had a vision of a shadowy figure in possession of Kira. Kira decided she wanted to delve deeper into this. In a drug-induced trance while on the way to defeat Inquisitor Tessari, she and Abbit finally realized who her oldest soul was. Chikara Nadir. Queen of the Labyrinth. Oh, that's awkward.   After defeated Inquisitor Tessari and protecting Queen Theodora from his potential coup, Kira's curiosity overcame her. She decided to reveal her true identity to Xer in the hope of learning more about her past. Instead, Xer turned against her, stating that she was the one who killed Chikara -- that she was Sarael's agent inside the Labyrinth who unleashed the infernal hordes. She laughed and said this cycle of undeath was suitable punishment for Chikara's hubris.

The Origin

Kira then had a vision of her original death. She was indeed Chikara Nadir, and she was having an argument with Selena about invading Olimandias. Chikara felt it was a trap. That something was wrong. And it was. Devils began to invade the Labyrinth through a sudden arcane rift, and their position was quickly overwhelmed. Selena was on the verge of death. Rather than let her die, and seeking to block the rift, Chikara used Imprisonment to seal her within a large sphere that blocked the opening to the Hells. But while this gambit worked, she discovered another rift soon after retreating from the battlefield.   Surrounded by a Pit Fiend, Xer, and various other devils, Chikara knew she wasn't getting out alive. She instead chose to cast the spell Earthquake and destroy the entire infernal army before it could take her people by surprise. And Chikara died her first death.   How she ended up in future bodies remains a mystery. Hopefully solved by recovering "Carolus's" journals locked inside the Naydra Archives.

Saravoss

Upon reaching Saravoss, hoping to get passage to Naydra, the party ran into the Cairthel family. That is, the family of the REAL Meera Cairthel. She introduced herself to find out more about her past, causing a bit of a moral quandry with the party, and found out that Meera's brother Rhys is their contact to get into Naydra. Awkward.

Chamber of Sages

Yeah, look, I'll update everyone's biography properly later on. But for now, it's important to note that a Clone spell was used to give her a new body modeled after her original one, and she subsequently chose the new name "Kira" -- based on Chikeera, a joke that Abbit once told.
