Malikathar

An imp of the Nine Hells, Malikathar has been "rescued" by the party and is now bound to Abbit as a familiar.

Personal history

Imps are the lowliest creatures within the Nine Hells, and so Malikathar's life was one of unending servitude both there and on the Material Plane. He was one of many imps subservient to the Scarred Devil in Glenien. His daily routine involved answering summons from the Scarred Devil's growing list of followers and completing tasks on behalf of his master. Imps are especially talented shapeshifters -- usually assuming the appearance of forgettable creatures like alley cats, rats, and city birds. They are also capable of invisibility. As such, Malikathar and his fellow imps were typically used as "watchful eyes."
Malikathar and some of his impish peers were assigned to monitor Archivist Rodrick at the Roslen National Library. He was meant to be researching Luna Majoris on behalf of the Scarred Devil (who in turn had some kind of arrangement with Xer and was acting on her behalf). Rodrick had started to back down from the task, however, and so the Scarred Devil sought to kill him and claim his forfeited soul.
The imps disguised themselves as pigeons roosting in the rafters of the building, waiting for a chance to strike.
Unfortunately, Malikathar was the dumbest among them. So when the party arrived and felt the vibe was off, Malikathar's "pigeon" behaviors began to turn erratic. Piers was able to sense fiends nearby. Meera shot him with her shortbow, causing him to fall to the floor. Talitha then threatened to snap his neck, but a party interrogation began. During which, Talitha correctly deduced that Delenos Montgomery -- Biscus's rival -- was part of the warlock cult sworn to the Scarred Devil.
He then unintentionally blurted out his true name to the party, at which point he became enthralled by them in accordance with the ancient laws of fiends.

Life with the Party

Malikathar was initially bound to Meera, and he obeyed the party's instructions to go spy on Delenos at the Brandywine Chateau, helping them pin down his movements. They learned through him that Delenos did not sleep and rarely left the house, using advanced spells like Mislead to project himself to the world.
He spent many nights helping Meera study Infernal, being a fluent speaker, a practice which he continues.
Piers gave him a stern and threatening dressing down, warning him not to try and steal anyone's soul or form any kind of pact with mortals -- and if Malikathar disobeyed this, then Piers would kill him. Simple. Malikathar has begrudgingly obeyed, although he's not sold on the whole "being good" thing that Piers tried to market to him. Likewise, Biscus found himself at occasional odds with "Mak" after he started making nests out of the Brandywine Chateau's fine pillows. He has since agreed to just lay on the pillows without tearing them up.
Abbit eventually became powerful enough to learn a spell beyond his normal powers -- the ability to cast Find Familiar. He asked Malikathar if that would be okay. Mak agreed, because returning to the Nine Hells would be unpleasant after all that's happened, and this lets him stick around under Abbit's power. Mak now retains his imp form when not is "use" via the spell, but shifts to animal form whenever Abbit requires his assistance as a familiar.
Since then, Malikathar has been acting as the party scout, scoping out places like the Naydra Archives by either flying around or sneaking into tight spaces as a spider.
Most frequently, though, Malikathar is kept in the form of a cat. Which, through Mak's influence, looks pretty bedraggled and not quite all there.
