The Lost Woods
An elusive Domain located on the northern side of the Lalvican Sea.
Many souls have gone missing in this mist-veiled forest. Every explorer that was dispatched into the woods failed to return. Village folklore states that anyone who becomes lost in the Woods will be transformed into a fairy or a monster, depending on how cruel or kind they were in life. The only safe path through the area is on the coastal highway that stretches between Resden and Hatena, and that's simply because the trees are thinnest along the rocky shore.
But in the last century, things have changed.
Merchants and travelers, waylaid by highwaymen on the coastal road, find themselves rescued by hooded and masked figures that emerge from the Lost Woods. And these mysterious figures disappear as suddenly as they arrived, slipping back into the thick fog.
This secret gang of adventurers fiercely protects their creepy homeland, living free in nature's majesty. Their headquarters is the ancient Forest Temple.
Structure
A glorified gang with no clear leaders. The members of the Lost Woods only appoint leaders when conducting ambushes, otherwise their society is guided by those who have expertise in certain disciplines. Some hunt the forest to scare off would-be invaders, and others protect the common folk from the brigands and pirates who often stalk the nearby coastal highway.
Assets
In the Lost Woods, you are most likely to find:
- Vendors specializing in druid, barbarian, and rogue equipment.
- Rare items that have been "lost" by former owners.
- Ancient temples and dungeons forgotten by time.
- Hags, fey creatures, and other mystical beings who may be willing to barter.
- Tree houses.
- Another hidden Korok.
History
The Lost Woods has been a dangerous, mystical place since time began. Fey, hags, ghosts, obnoxious druids -- you could always find them here.
In the last century, however, with the great nations of the Interior expanding their borders, a gang of outlaws has managed to turn the Lost Woods and its haunted Forest Temple into their home. Now, they launch hit-and-run ambushes against criminals, nosy visitors, and the battalions of would-be conquerors. "Don't tread on my tree roots."
Demography and Population
The Lost Woods has a small population from all walks of life, but the forest setting especially draws in elves, druids, barbarians, and rogues of all kinds.
