Benevion (buh-nev-EE-än)

The river Benevion is a supernatural river in the outer planes. Two great interplanar rivers flow between some of the planes. The river Styx connects the lower (pronounced evil) planes. In a similar fashion, the river Benevion connects the upper (pronounced good) planes. Just like the river Styx has Charon to ferry souls along the infernal river, the river Benevion has Auroria to transport souls along the celestial river.

Geography

The river Benevion begins as as a whirlpool the Sea of Serenity. The whirlpool deposits the water, which is holy water, high in the glaciers atop Mount Groover. Over the millennia the waters have eroded out a pool that drains into a stream that becomes the river. Winding its way down the mountain, it eventually winds through Gransheer Forest before exiting the plane of Mount Groover.
After leaving Mount Groover, it enters the plane Lutlas in its topmost layer, Efst, where it twists and turns as it visits several of the small pastoral villages that populate the layer. Eventually it drops through a grand waterfall at the edge of the layer and begins running through the deep canyons of Anvika. At the edge of the layer, it widens in to the vast wetlands of the layer of Prioja. If a traveller along the river were to follow the barely perceptable current through the wetlands, they would eventually find themselves in the grasslands and vast prairies of Neosta.
After leaving the prairies, the river widens into a delta as it enters the first layer of of the Seven Heavens. The layer is like a large river delta with low lying areas of land and a maze of shallow slow moving tailing of the grandiose Benevion.

Localized Phenomena

The river, from its source in the Sea of Serenity to the Grand Delta of Tropmaran is holy water. Holy water in all its radiant glory. Creatures subject to damage by holy water will be damaged by imersion or being splashed by the river's waters.

Climate

One of the interesting attributes of the Benevion is that while in or on the river, the climate is always locally perfect for a traveller. In other words, there is no true weather, only the individual's personal weather that is perfect for them.
"Every river seems to come with a purpose. I have my purpose, too. And it’s not my purpose to die here, away from those people, friends, and places I hold dear. Or at least that's what my friend, Haruki Murakami, told me."
