Basic Information

Anatomy

Glasera are bipedial creatures in the Leitan Peninsula. They have an average height of about 48" (43+2d4) and an average weight of about 170 (152+4d8) pounds. Unlike other dwarves they have no facial hair. The growth of facial hair is actually more of a hinderance in the arctic climate than a boon.

Genetics and Reproduction

It is rare, but not unheard of, for Glasera to birth more than one baby at a time. 0.1% of babies born are twins. There are no known records of triplets. About 70% of all births are males. Unfortunately only about 55% of all dwarves are fertile.
Humans, gnomes, and halflings are cross fertile with dwarves. Elves are believed to be cross fertile as well, but there are no known living examples of such issue. Half-dwarves are not a distinct race. They tend to be 6-8" taller than a pure bread dwarf. Otherwise they look, act, and appear (and are treated so in game mechanics) as pure bread dwarves. If halfblood dwarves mate with pureblood dwarves, the offspring are pureblood. If halfblood mate with another halfblood or nondwarf, the offspring are halfblood dwarf.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Glasera can be found throughout the peninsula, but are typically located in remote arctic hills.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Glasera are able to see radiation in the infra-red spectrum. This means they can see up to 60' in the dark noting varying degrees of heat radiation. This ability is known as infravision.
Like most dwarves, Glasera are miners of considerable skill and they are able to detect the following when within 10' or less of the particular phenemonena (except determination of approximate depth, which may be done at any distance):
  • Detect grade or slope in passage: 75%
  • Detect new construction or passage or tunner: 75%
  • Detect sliding or shifting walls or rooms: 66.6%
  • Detect traps involving pits, falling blocks, or other stonework: 50%
  • Determine approximate depth underground: 50%
The Glasera must be actively seeking to determin the phenomenon is question. It does not just appear in the character's mind.
