Utubium (oo-toob-E-um)

(a.k.a. The Lord of Fire)

Utubium is the ruler of the flames. Utubium is focused upon violent destruction of those that oppose his evil goals. Like most deities and powers in the Leitan Peninsula, Utubium is a very real and mortal entity. Albeit a very long lived and powerful one.
Utubium is one of the The THP Five, making him one of the more powerful deities in the pantheon. Utubium will flaunt and lord his power over those he deems weaker than himself and he will kill without a second thought.
The Prophecy of the Iris predicts the fall of Utubium, but he has destroyed all known written copies of that chapter of the prophecy except for one. That sole copy is believed to lie in a chest in the cargo hold of the wreck of The Oskar Skott at the bottom of Drumdury Bay.

Holy Books & Codes

Jrakmyama

Jrakmyama roughly translates to The Plan from Lawful Evil tongue. When translated and interpreted, the Jrakmyama lays out a plan for control and domination of the multiverse by the Acolytes of Utubium.
Early chapters of the text establish Utubium's authority and agency as the ultimate symbol of power and control in the multiverse. Next it goes onto describe a caste system for the promised future. Ambition, competition, and ruthless planning are encouraged as preferred methods of advancement in the caste system.
The book also includes several prophecies. One of which is referred to as The Inferno's Ambition Prophecy. This prophecy delves into Ubutium's teachings on ambition, power, and domination. It alludes to a faithful's duty to seek personal gain and domination over all others. Especially of those in positions of authority over you. Utubium's blessings are promised to those who sufficiently rise in wealth and power. Only then will stability and order blanket the multiverse.
Several later chapters detail tools, techniques, and methods of asserting control and dominance over others. Fear, manipulation, and coercion are discussed as primary methods of accomplishing these deeds and elaborates on their necessity to bring about Utubium's total domination.
The final chapter is known as The Prophecy of Conflagration. This tale prophesies a future where Utubium's flames will engulf the world. Effectively consuming all that is good and chaotic. Those faithful to Utubium, it promises eternal rewards in the new order where his domination is final and absolute.
Interspersed in all of the above are ritualistic instructions, prayers, and hyms. These items make it possible for followers to actively pursue power, control, and domination through cleansing and purifying fires.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Utubium is a fairly hands on deity. He sees little reason for subtlety and his divine signs reflet this. A pillar of flame is one of the most common. This sign is often times used for oral communication with mortals. When images or visual information needs to be conveyed, the Lord of Fire will bring a ring of fire into existance and create images within the ring.
Utubium's symbol is a pair of hand axes crossed afore a circlet. A lone scepter lies afore it all. The circlet is symbolic of the multiverse in one entirety. The desired domain of Utubium and his worshipers. The axes symbolize strength, might, and war. The preferred direct path to total domination. Finally the scepter is symbolic of 1 ruler over 1 multiverse.

Tenets of Faith

Order is Rule 1

Followers of the divine flame must uphold and maintain a strict order and social hierarchy. Support those constructs that concentrate power and control in the powerful few.

Exploit the Weak

Weakness is a vulnerability that provides an opportunity for exploitation. Take advantage of those weaknesses to further your own interests.

Fire is Authority

Fire is a symbol of Utubium's power and authority. His followers shall uswe fire both literally and alogorically in rituals and their actions.

Loyalty

Loyalty to the Lord of Fire and his anointed representitives is non-negotiable. Betrayal is the gravest sin and begets severe penalties. Note well that this does not supercede a subordinate's duty to exploit weak superiors.

Holidays

Summer Sundown

The primary holiday for Utubium's faithful is Summer Sundown. Summer Sundown begins at sunset on the last day of the 5th month, Utudru. The feast and festivities last nine evenings, with the first evening and the last evening being the most important.
On the first evening, Utubium worshipers spend the evening celebrating how much better off they are this year compared to last. There is gloating, celebrating, and general meriment at the misfortune of others. Those that have fallen in wealth, stature, or power over the last year are often times approached about becoming client pawns to the more powerful.
The last evening of the celebration is one in with worshipers make promises of what they hope to accomplish in the coming year. These promises can become divine oaths in the right circumstances. Furthermore, those that didn't do well in the previous year may also look at this eveining as an opportunity to hitch themselves to a rising star.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Utubium's overwhelming and absolute goal is total and complete domination of The Peninsula, the Inner and Outer Planes, and the domain of time. Interestingly, he omits the miasma from goal. Publicly, he has dismissed the existence of Eldrich Entities. Above board he is very much aware of their existence.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Utubium is the specimin of perfect physical health and fitness. A strong, muscular, and imposing individual of godlike proportions. He boasts a head of long firey orange hair and a thick beard. In most ways he is an embodiment of the intensity fire itself.
A palpable heat radiates from his body no matter what form he has taken. This heat is so great that in all but the most extreme circumstances it warms the surroundings to nearly unbearable temperatures.
As a deity, Utubium's physical condition is eternal and unchanging. His lawful nature and association with fire only exasterbates this constant appearance. Furthermore as the Lord of Fire he maintains this consistency as a reinforcement of fire's perpetual and unchanging nature.

Body Features

A luminous and flickering aura, reminiscent of flames, is continually dancing about his body. This aura changes intensity, color, and size depending upon Utubium's mood at the moment. It's general overall intensity is limited should the god be in a state of reduced power, but for Utubium that is rarely an issue.
He posesses a strong muscular build that reinforces his symbolic strength and power. It should be well noted that though he is quite muscular, his movements are fluid and commanding, like those of a dancing flame.

Facial Features

The eyes of Utubium are captivating and intense. Typically they are deep black without pupils, but as his anger flares, they begin to glow like hot coals. His gaze is mesmerizing and draws in those that meet his gaze. It draws them in like a moth to a flame and mortals will usually meet the same fate as the moth.
His facial features are sharp and defined, with a strong jawline and high cheekbones, giving him a commanding and formidable appearance. These same features help him carry an expression of immense power, extreme passion, and stellar intensity which reflects on the untamable nature of fire.

Mental characteristics

Intellectual Characteristics

Utubium is a very strategic individual. He is always thinking several steps ahead in all of his actions. He continually uses his intellect to manipulate situations and people to his advantage. This is always done within the bounds of his own personal code, the tenets of the Tabernacle of Divine Coruscation, and the dictates of The Leitan Pantheon.
While respecting the laws mentioned, Utubium is a cunning and deceptive deity. He is not above using deciet to meet his personal goals. He is skilled at crafting a lie or half-truth to serve his needs as long as it doesn't break his own rules.
Utubium is quite pragmatic. He will focus on the most efficient and effective means to achieve his goals, even if the methods are morally questionable. This same pragmatism also makes Utubium very risk adverse.
He is authoritative and commanding. Utubium posesses a commanding presence and the ability to lead. He commands fear and respect and his superior intelligence is evident id his management of subordinates and manipulation of allies and enemies alike.

Morality & Philosophy

Utubium embodies a morality and philosophy that prioritizes control, hierarchy, and self-interest above all else. Manipulation, punishment, and deception Maintains their power and ensures that the faithful remain faithful. Utubium's tenent's are engineered to create a world where might makes right, and those who can seize power and exploit others are rewarded.
Utubium believes that strict rules and regulations create a society with a clear hierarchy of power. These rules ensure that the powerful maintain control and dominance over those less suited to lead through strength and might.

Taboos

Thou shalt not disrespect fire.
Fire of all types shall be held in the highest esteem. Never participate in any act that is disrespectful to fire, trivializes fire, or subjugates fire to a position other than the top of all elements. Careless use or using fire for petty reasons would be seen as taboo.

Thou shalt not break an oath or contract.
Oaths, agreements, deals, and the like are taken very seriously by the Lord of Fire. The faithful place a great importance on them. The only action that is worse would be breaking an oath that is sealed with fire. A molten wax seal or a brand are two simple examples of agreements sealed with fire.

Thou shalt not show mercy to the weak or the enemy.
Ruthlessness to the enemy or the weak is expected of all Utubiums followers. Showing mercy or leniency is seen as a sign of weakness and is very taboo in the religion.

Thou shalt not sow chaos, disorder, or anarchy.
Chaos is abhorrent to the faithful. Engaging in or supporting actions that lead to uncontrolled situations is a gave taboo in the Tabernacle of Divine Coruscation.

Thou shalt not betray an ally or subordinate.
Betraying those who have sworn fealty to the faithful, or those they have promised to protect or lead, is considered considered a major taboo. Note that this does not extend to those that are demonstrating weakness and that weakness could compromise a plan or mission.
