Speculation on the Nature of the Gods and Powerful Artifacts ~ By Susan Tupp

Speculation on the Nature of the Gods and Powerful Artifacts ~ By Susan Tupp       In this world we have discovered several constants that seem to hold true. However, the more we understand these constants, the more we seem to be missing a piece of the puzzle. We understand that the primordial forces of Aether (also known as holy and creation) and Deri’Dah (also known as corruption and destruction) are in balance. We also know that the number 12 shows up very often, not just in nature but also in scenarios where mortal action would not be expected to yield that number. 12 elements, 12 Elder Demons, 12 original gods of Loredas, 12 new gods, 12 heroes of Iocrias and their 12 blades, etc.       Going forward with that logic, which I admit while commonly accepted is not proven fact, there are several inconsistencies which some may say disprove them. I posit that it instead hints to more undiscovered information within that system. First we establish a term that is coming into common use. The “Sunburst” is the name given to the event in which Samuel Eshpard sacrificed himself to allow the Godslayers the chance to stop Balimor the God of Destruction. The result was a concentrated burst of Aether and Deridah, creating the new sun and seemingly creating 12 new gods.       The realm located metaphysically above us of Atheos, where the gods dwell (originally referred to as the Aether, it inexplicably expanded after the sunburst to accommodate the new fully powered Loredasan gods and the 8 new ones), is a realm comprised mostly of Aether. The 12 gods (with the exception of Shadir, while we don’t have any surviving researchers that have come face to face we can assume his power is derived from deridah) are powered almost entirely on Aether as well. We have also found from preliminary reports that the 12 blades of Iocrias have more concentrated Aether magic than any other artifact on Terra. The stories told of the heroes defeating chaotic monsters and prophecies surrounding them point to the possibility, though more direct study is warranted.       Moving forward with these theoretical constants and the data that we have the inconsistencies become obvious. If there are 12 gods of Aether, where are the 12 gods of Deridah? If there are 12 artifacts of Aether power, where are 12 artifacts of Deridah power? And lastly, if there is a realm of Aether, where is the realm of Deridah?       12 theoretical gods of deridah would not be gods at all. The elder demons don’t fit the bill as they were easily dispatched when compared to the power of the gods. Unseen gods? What would we call these? Archfiends maybe? But why have we not found evidence of these archfiends? Is our world the deridah filled companion of Aetheos? We don’t seem to have enough corruption for that. The elemental realms and feywild don’t match either. That suggests the existence of a realm metaphysically below us where the archfiends dwell. For the purposes of theories this realm will be called the Abyss, named after an old and gone Loredasan god and the corrupted pit that Balimor regained power in at the center of Aldas during the war.       Another point of interest is the 12 Mythril Blades of Cidash. If these are artifacts of serious Aether power, it stands to reason that the world’s balance demands 12 artifacts of deridah. Is it possible that these artifacts already exist? There are perfect candidates in the items elder demon souls have enchanted. Their power match perfectly with what we know of the blades of cidash, though direct study should be made to verify this theory.       PLAYER KNOWLEDGE FOLLOWS==================================       Locations of the 12 Mythril Blades of Cidash------------------------------------------------       Chaos - Oblivion - Rediscovered by Senu       Stasis - Silencer - Taken from a dragon hoard by Sen.
