The deck of second chances is a deck of cards that was mass-manufactured by a wizard who chose to remain anonymous in their creation. The back of the cards are painted with a pattern depicting an unbalanced set of scales, set over a golden background with black decorative lines. A new deck contains 20 cards, though finding a complete deck has become very rare over the years, as the cards become used. Each card has a unique illustration on its face side, set on a white background. Ten of these illustrations are greyscale, while ten use red alongside black, white, and grey, and are a bit more colourful. The illustrations themselves range from a devil rising from the Hells, a vial of bubbling liquid, a person at their deathbed, and many other things. Each card also has a distinct name.

Use & Purpose

The cards in the deck of second chances can be used to change fate. They can twist bad luck into good fortune, or vice versa. They can be used for a second chance on an important throw or shot, or they can be used to turn luck against another who may have otherwise had their way. Each card can only be used once, and can be used on anyone. All that the user has to do is throw the card in the direction of the person they wish to affect, including themself. If that person had a streak of good luck, this would be changed into bad. If the person had been experiencing some bad luck, they would have another chance for good fortune to befall them.

Secondhand Sale

The majority of the shopkeepers who have managed to get their hands on a deck are often only able to do so secondhand. This means that the vast majority of these decks that are being sold only have a fraction of the cards from the original deck. They may get lucky and have up to fifteen or even eighteen cards from a deck, or they may only have two or three. Full, twenty-card decks have become exceedingly rare.

I feel like I would be terrified to use these in case something bad happened. XD   Fun item. I like the detail that full decks are rare now.
