The Mestranian War of Royal Claim, generally referred to as the Mestranian War (though there have been multiple wars involving Mestrania), is the war between Mestrania and Eclania. The agressors, Mestrania, attacked Eclania in late 1999 A.G.W., claiming that their royalty had sovereignty over Eclanian lands, and that Eclanian land was rightfully theirs. Eclania did not want to submit to Mestrania, and so the war began.
The Conflict
Prelude
Having both split off from the same predecessor nation of Hadthos due to a succession crisis, Eclania and Mestrania had always been on very rough terms, and the newest reigning monarch of Mestrania, Olga Ravencrown, was especially cold towards any and all politicians, diplomats, and ambassadors of Eclania. She declared war seemingly out of nowhere, and despite how the war would negatively impact the nation. Some believe that she was influenced, while others simply considered her a bad queen.
Conditions
Immediately after the war was declared, Vechia revoked all financial support from Mestrania, and threatened any would-be supporters of the agressor nation with the same fate. Mestrania, despite its large numbers and powerful army and naval forces, was weakened by this. Eclania drew in support from Dostros, who were in turn supported by New Vransi, holding the technical upper hand. However, Mestrania also began to recruit necromancers and undead, keeping the nations at a standstill.

Interesting little article. I'm curious as to how the war turned out.
