The tongue hat is an accessory designed and created by Beezos Bumblebloom when he started his travelling circus. It is essentially a ringmaster's top hat, albeit a bit taller proportionally than most would expect. The hat is enchanted so that whenever its wearer speaks, any listeners capable of understanding language hear the speaker as though they were speaking in their native language (or the language they are most fluent in, if they have lost fluency in their native language). This allows Beezos to hold his circus in a wider variety of locations without having to learn the native tongue of the region he is visiting, allowing for more circus revenue and further reach.
Manufacturing process
The hat itself is made from a variety of fabrics, mostly whatever was the highest quality yet cheapest available to Beezos at the time that he created the hat. Because there have been multiple iterations of the hat, necessitated by some of his performers' proneness to accidents involving fire or theft, different versions of the hat have been made from different fabrics. Beezos has tried using flame-retardant materials to make the hat, but this modifies the appearance of the hat more than he would wish it to. He also tried to give it an additional enchantment to make it resistant to fire, and while this worked for normal fire, it was ineffective against the flames of one of his performers. As the primary troublemaking performers have since left Beezos' circus, he has had to replace his hat much less frequently.
History
When Beezos Bumblebloom first decided to start his travelling circus, he gained some popularity in his home region, but soon gained ambitions to bring the circus elsewhere. He began to enact these ambitions, before realising that the language barriers were limiting his reach. Rather than devoting time to learning the language of everywhere he wished to travel, Beezos invented the hat so that he did not have to do so.
