Nero's Laws
When General Nero was appointed to the rank of General ten years ago, his first mandate was a set of laws that coined the name, Nero's Laws.
- Taxes: A form of mandatory payment that begin immediately once a citizen reaches maturity. These contributions assist with economic development for the city of Chaosia, but more importantly serves as payment for the chaotic ore and process involved in transmuting the ore into a fuel source that powers The Veil. Payment is due on the first of every month which can be paid in-person at the local bank called, Goblin Trust. There are two tax brackets: 5gp/day, 150gp/month (The Citadel), and 5sp/day, 15gp/month (The Commons). Failure to pay when in custody of The Garrison will be taken out of belongings owned and even forced labour within Stonepick Mine.
- Eye for an Eye: If you steal with your left hand, then you lose your left hand; the same applies to unlawful murder and pretty much anything that serves an equal consequence.
- The Veil: Anyone caught disrupting the flow of the magical veil that protects the city will be immediately sentenced to death.
- No Trial: Trials are rarely conducted and most crime punishments will be immediately administered by the military unit that witnessed the crime.
- Curfew: At 2300 hours, the gates of The Citadel close and a city-wide curfew takes place until 0500 hours. Anyone caught wandering the streets during these hours will find themselves fined and hauled off to The Garrison to be locked away until the curfew is lifted.
