Axeholm

General Summary

In our last session. Witnessing the slaughter of a band of orcs at the doors to the ancient Dwarven fortress of Axeholm by a White Dragon. The ‘Ardboys investigated the entrance, thawing one of the orcs and learning that their tribe “Burghor Ukrypt Orcs” had been forced from Icespire Hold by a white Dragon known as “Cryovain”. Attempting to investigate the ominously quite fortress, Lo-Kag Kalathai and Keith McCraggins were able to use one of the chimneys down to a stone-cold forge and a place that should... and did in fact contain spiders.   After avoiding the spiders they were able to descend to lower levels where they located the mechanism to raise the Portcullis and a number of the abandoned dwarven ballistas. Attempting to use a ballista to break down the heavy iron reinforced front doors brought a strong stench of death a decay. With masses of undead dwarves scraping and snarling through the guardhouse arrow slits. Unknown to Quinn Bloodscale and Alistair DütcHoven the now weakened from doors were about to spill the living dead upon them. However, some quick thinking and baiting them away allowed them to be hastily dispatched. In a surprising display of forward planning Quinn Bloodscale attached a rope to the Portcullis mechanism which could be operated from the outside to shield a quick escape.   Further exploration of the fortress revealed collapse and ruin with rough tunnels coming off the otherwise pristine dwarven halls. Everywhere the stench of death hung in the air. Alistair DütcHoven and Quinn Bloodscale found a large statue to Abbathor in the grand entrance hall and spotted a ghostly visage on an upper balcony. As they all re-grouped they found one of the undead dwarves wedged arse first into a small hole a ballista bolt pinning it in place.   Quinn Bloodscale split from the group, burning the trapped undead and squeezing through the tunnel it was wedged into. She unknowingly made her way to the place that should have... and indeed did... have spiders. Meanwhile Lo-Kag Kalathai, Alistair DütcHoven and Keith McCraggins descended into a pit of undead, littered with bones and the wrang stench of death and decay. After dispatching the undead they proceeded into the desecrated remains of a dwarven shrine to Moradin. Here they found a dead priest of Abbathor with a pendant matching the one found at the Dwarven Excavation.   Concerned about Quinn Bloodscale's whereabouts Alistair DütcHoven proceeded to search for her and was fortunately able to help her out of an otherwise sticky situation. Trapped in a storage closet with giant spiders attempting to break in.    With newfound vigor and gusto the newly formed “Bro team” of Lo-Kag Kalathai and Keith McCraggins made their way up stairs…
