Road to Phandalin

General Summary

Our group, while returning to the Hamlet of Evermist with Remi Stryker in tow glanced back at the Neverwinter Woods to see a localised storm in the centre of the woods casting bolts of lightning rapidly down into the ground. Quinn Bloodscale, Lo-Kag and Alistair DütcHoven’s combined knowledge enlightened Keith McCraggins, as they determined this was most definitely arcane and not natural.   Returning Remi Stryker to the Strykers, they soon found themselves an asset, the blacksmith off Evermist, should they ever return here. Thorne was somewhat thankful and bestowed upon them their handsome rewards. Resting only briefly though the hours of the morning, the group, now calling themselves the 'Ardboys, met up with Keith McCraggins’s employer, Theobald Wilmont, and left for Phandalin.   Along the way, they came across an ambush site with two slaughtered horses. They soon found the four goblins who laid in ambush. Quinn Bloodscale’s fire within incinerated two of them, while Lo-Kag, Keith and Alistair DütcHoven with the light of Lathander decimated and decapitated one goblin, while the remaining goblin fled down into the woods. Quinn recognised these horses as those of her employer Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter, so the group, leaving Theobald Wilmont to draw in the dirt, chased after the escaping goblin.   Dodging traps along the way, the 'Ardboys soon discovered a cave for which the goblin must have fled too. There were two goblins outside that were quickly taken care of by Keith McCraggins’s enormous axe and the chilling touch of Quinn Bloodscale’s necrotic spell. Entering the Cave, Lo-Kag managed to calm the wolves nearby the cave mouth with the power of his survival skills and animal handling. This allowed him to nimbly ascend a rubbish chute to await his fellow 'Ardboys signal. Which was, yelling 'Ardboys.   The other three adventurers explored the cave, easily taking care of a lookout goblin with Keith McCraggins’s Javelin. As they ventured on, Alistair DütcHoven managed to divinely yet completely obliterate two further goblins with Lathander's gift of ‘Radiance of the Dawn’. They made it to a larger portion of the cave screaming 'Ardboys as they entered signalling to Lo-Kag to jump out and attack. They managed to fend off three smaller goblins and in successive blows, one including a miracle javelin throw, through the cracks of stalactites and stalactites destroyed the cave’s leader, Klarg with Lo-Kag, delivering the final crushing blow, in some sort of gruesome conquest, removed Klarg’s head as a sign of victory.   Here the adventurers met a weak man with a southern accent, Don-Jon Raskin. He explained to them that he was a member of a Neverwinter consortium working for the owner’s of the Mountain’s Toe Gold Mine. The adventurers learned of something unusual going on at this mine of which he was tasked to investigate.   Finishing their exploration of the cave they found in the feeding den the remaining goblins, one of whom held Sildar Hallwinter captive. Lo-Kag’s attempt at intimidation was successful bearing the head of Klarg, leading to the goblin Yeemik attempting to bargain his way out. However, Quinn Bloodscale soon thwarted this intimidation by making him blind by accident, extinguishing the only source of light in the cave. In this confusion, Alistair DütcHoven destroyed Yeemik with his holy rage. Whilst Sildar Hallwinter was dropped to the cave floor unconscious. Quinn Bloodscale quickly cast flames upon the 5 remaining goblins, incinerating all but two of them. Lo-Kag target the weakened one, and Keith McCraggins grappled the other. Alistair DütcHoven, somehow enraged with Keith McCraggins’s blood rage used his sacred flame and mace to finish the weakened goblin.   After calming Alistair DütcHoven down, the adventurers asked the grappled goblin questions. Being of little use, he was killed after revealing some information about King Grol and Cragmaw Castle. Alistair DütcHoven then called upon the healing powers of Lathander to stabilise poor Sildar Hallwinter. Here they learned from the weakened warrior that Gundren Rockseeker being taken into captivity by goblins of Cragmaw Castle and their leader King Grol, likely in order to seek out the ‘wave echo cave’, which Gundren Rockseeker had a map to. He also overheard discussions of someone known only as "The Black Spider". Quinn realised that this must be the ‘big something’ Gundren Rockseeker had alluded to. Be-friending Rasta, the wolf; Lo-Kag, Quinn Bloodscale, Keith McCraggins, Alistair, Don-Jon Raskin and Don-Jon Raskin returned to Theobald Wilmont . Here they discovered that he had quite the imagination with respect to goblin’s intimate parts, this was definitely not the ‘big something’ Quinn had in mind.   Now, self-proclaimed heroes, the 'Ardboys mustered on to the town of Phandalin. As they entered the town, a thunderous roar and an enormous flying beast flew across the sky from the mountains looming above. It seemed that this might be the start of their true adventure…
