Brúni-Bári, God of Carousing & Drink
Other Names/Titles: The Bearded Brothers, the Twin Tankards
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Domains: Life, Nature, Peace, War
Symbol: Two glass mugs being clinked together
Garb: Priests of Brúni-Bári wear flashy raiments, often long-flowing vestments that are split in half between bright yellow and orange. Bartending aprons are also considered sacred.
Favored Weapon: Improvised Weapons
Form of Worship and Holidays: There is no better way to toast to the Twin Tankards than with a rousing celebration during which ale flows freely, and especially dedicated worshippers of the Brothers consider every festive occasion to be offerings to their divinity. Although the Brothers observe no official holidays, followers of Brúni-Bári often look forward to birthdays and victory celebrations to raise their mugs to their god.
Typical Worshipers: Lower-class Dwarves, Bartenders, Tavern-Hoppers, Dwarven Bards
Brúni-Bári is the name of the twin dwarven gods of carousing, drink, and feasting. The two figures are worshipped as a single divine entity with that share a single portfolio and divine source.
"May you hear us sing along, from the forest | To the tavern's hall, until we fall | Our blood is boiling fast | Like mead poured on the table | In the tavern's hall, until we fall." - Traditional Dwarven Drinking Song
Unique among many of Lloegyr's deities, Brúni-Bári is a twin-aspected god, consisting of two twin brothers; Brúni, the brewer, and Bári, the cooper. The two were twin brothers in life who shared a bond stronger than a steel barrel hoop, and are said to have ascended to divinity together; as the saying goes, "what good is a stout ale with no one to drink it with?" Observers of the faith of the Twin Tankards will interchangably refer to the god as the combined name Brúni-Bári, to the twins as their separate names, or simply as 'the Brothers'. They represent the unity of the dwarven people and the love of celebration after a hard day's work; a reminder for dwarves to remember to enjoy the grand halls they build and revel in the knowledge of what it is that they fight for. Brúni-Bári, as a god celebrating the miracle of alcohol, is often looked upon as a less 'serious' god than the likes of Dwerfater or Barator, and particularly stoic dwarves may even forgo drink and celebration to spurn the brothers and their distractions from duty. These grumpy dwarves are looked upon with sadness, but Brúni-Bári does not smite those that spurn him; he prefers to take care of those drinking in his name. In addition to drinking, Brúni-Bári oversees the sacraments of feasting, singing, dancing, and otherwise having fun at the expense of one's inhibitions. Brúni-Bári encourages reasonable excess, and names moderation as a cardinal sin.
