La Saia, The Frostmaiden, Queen of Ice and Snow

Alignment: Lawful Evil
Domains: Tempest, Order, Peace, Twilight
Symbol: A five-pointed crown of ice with a large, central crystal of ice
Garb: White and blue robes with transparent silk adornments that mimic the beauty of ice and snow, thin enough to not offer protection against the divine cold
Favored Weapon: Spears and Shortswords
Form of Worship and Holidays: Worship of La Saia falls into two distinct sects; those priests and priestesses who actually worship the frozen goddess, and those laymen who make sacrifices to appease her and forestall her icy wrath. The former shed their warm clothing during holy ceremonies and embrace the bite of cold as long as possible, while the latter make sacrifices of life, wealth, and warmth to curb the harshness of winter. Both sides of worship honor La Saia in her holy hours during the Winter Solstice and the moment of twilight, when the sun is split in half by the horizon and cold approaches to reclaim its domain over the world.
Typical Worshipers: Settlers and frontiersmen of arboreal/arctic climes such as Frostgale Taiga, scrimshanders, ice fishers, snow elves.
La Saia is the goddess of ice, snow, winter, stasis, and stillness. Although not a full-powered deity, she nonetheless enjoys near-total dominion over the colder parts of the world where the chill and sting of ice and cold is a constant threat. She is less often worshiped out of loyalty or reverence, but instead out of fear; people of Frostgale Taiga may often revere her in hopes of forestalling the coming winter to allow them a scant few more days of fishing and logging.
Priests of La Saia are few and far between given the near-universal hatred and fear of the cold. The devout of the Queen of Ice and Snow worship the stilling effects of cold and its powers of preservation; corpses frozen in ice are considered sacred by the clergy of La Saia. Powerful La Saian clerics are known as Snowcloaks for their tendency to be wreathed in gusts of ice and snow.
La Saia’s greatest seat of power was Frostgale Taiga, where winter was a reality nearly year-round for its stalwart inhabitants. Many superstitions revolved around her supposed influence on the region, and it was not unheard of for doomsday preachers to cite her supposed responsibility for the pole shift in ancient times. The Sapphire Isle south of the Snowdrift Flatlands was feared as La Saia’s home, and was said to be the coldest place in all of Lloegyr.
