The Feast of Fools (6th of Oeros)

This popular holiday is held all across Akados, though it has not found its way across the ocean to Libynos. All work and business is suspended, and merchants make an attempt to not be mid-journey during this time. While slavery is widely outlawed, historically slaves were given a day where they are considered free-men and allowed to partake in celebration. During this festival, all across the kingdom mock-kings or mock "leaders" depending on who is in charge, are elected with full ceremonies held to honor them. This person is always referred to as "The King", and often gets incredibly drunk, and lords over the subjects in a mocking manner.   A grand feast is held, with decorations usually bearing bright green banners to represent the noble nature of the event. The outfits were often comical and mocking, with clothing more similar to a carnival or circus. A fake crown is often awarded to the King, and they are usually elevated above the others and given a sceptor.   A popular though not universal custom was for the nobles, leaders of the church and even the king to change places with a peasent or low-born, serving food and joining them in their celebration. where this was done, it was always a big boost to that leaders popularity. This Could be a humbling or unpleasent experience for many highborn, and across the realm many refused to degrade themselves in such a way. In some places it was outlawed, while in others the upper classes simply refused to participate or akknoldge this as a real holiday.
