Children of Stone

Drevok is the deity that governs the passage of time, decay, and stone. They slumber deep within the earth, delegating duties to the Isturians above. The primary organisation that is responsible observing the rites and rituals relating to Drevok is the Children of Stone.

Worship

When a person has died, they are buried in the ground and a cairn of stones is built atop their grave. This will let Drevok know there is another to take, absorbing them into the earth and turning them back into the stone from whence they came. For who better to watch over the flow of time from their eternal, dreamless sleep, than ageless Drevok with the wisdom and power of untold eons. While not as openly revered as some of the other Gods, Drevok is an important cornerstone of the pantheon. Those who have lost someone may occasionally pray to Drevok or offer a tribute of various minerals or carved stones, so that they can rest easy knowing that they have become one with the natural world once more.

Priesthood

Priests of Drevok will often also be Children of Stone, but not always. They are always in high demand and greatly valued in society. It is these priests that preside over burial ceremonies and carry out the Hallowing that allows mines and quarries to be created.   The recruitment and initiation of new priests into the order is not only a result of the constant demand for priests of Drevok, but also because it is a solemn, sacred duty that the Children of Stone believe has been bestowed upon them by Drevok themselves. In the eyes of the order, their responsibilities are of utmost importance to maintaining life and order, that they are a cornerstone of Isturian society.   Some may see them as a fairly extreme sect of Drevokian priests, but it is merely that they take their duties so seriously that they are constantly proselytising new recruits into the order.
