Imperial Decree of Iron Sovereignty

When Lord Ishturakh Blackwood embarked on a mission to conquer the Ironstone Mountains and found the kingdom of Isturoth, he allegedly composed a document meant to survive him, that dictates an inherent right to inhabit and settle the Ironstone Mountains, one that he and those after him are born with.   The legend of the decree has long outlived any physical document, if it ever even existed in the first place. Many have historically used it to exercise their rule and support any conquest or colonisation they may undertake. It is a highly contested document with many questioning its existence and its moral implications.

Historical Details

History

As the existence of the decree is still in question, it is not known what date it may have been written or dictated, however it stands to reason that it was during the rule of Lord Blackwood. Following this, it wasn't until long after his rule that the decree can be firmly traced.

Legacy

There are both camps for and against the decree, as well as those who doubt its existence entirely. Those who believe it existed (and indeed still exists) may see it as proof of the Isturian's right to rule. To them, this is all the legal support they need to justify any act they take in the name of conquest. As described in the original decree, those of noble blood have a natural and fundamental right to own the mountains and rule it as a mighty kingdom.   To many others, whether it existed or not, is nothing more than an excuse to take wage war and seize land. If Lord Blackwood truly issued the decree himself, and not some delusional fanatic or warlord, it still holds no weight on the actions of people here and now.
