Lord Salaev Bakhti

The Curator of the Lost (a.k.a. The Missing Lord)

As cautionary tales go, the story of Lord Bakhti is certainly one to remember.

Biography

Salaev was born to a family of nobles in Vašira. He was given the very best education and taught an in-depth knowledge of history, culture and the arts. As he matured, so did his interest in lost antiquities and forgotten relics.   By the time Salaev inherited the title and wealth from his family, he had traded and bartered a sizeable portfolio of rare artifacts and archeological discoveries. With the full familial fortune behind him, he set about acquiring more objects that were increasingly difficult to find, often following nothing more than vague rumours or a mention in a dusty tome.   Lord Bakhti spent much of his life chasing down these items of myth and legend. He spent his youth and his fortune treasure-hunting all across the Ironstone Mountains. The story tells of how he eventually stumbled across a lost library, thousands of years old and filled with an endless amount of scrolls and tomes. It is said that here is where he discovered the first references to the Black Ingots of Animus.   In this buried and forbidden trove of knowledge, Salaev found evidence of unspeakably dark artifacts that would consume his already fanatical mind. He delved deeper and deeper in search of them, following what trace clues he had. The tale explains how Salaev's entire expedition abandoned him and his pursuits, though some versions claim he betrayed them to their deaths and they were never heard from again.   Whatever the case, the Lord ended up alone, clawing his way through the deep dark caverns of the world, having long-since run out of lantern oil. Some say that he perished down there, others believe he found the fabled ingots and that they bestowed upon him unnatural life and an adaption to the dark. It remains, however, that Lord Salaev Bakhti was never seen or heard from again.
