Steam-Power
The most recent industrial revolution experienced by the people of Isturoth, the boom in technological innovation and scientific progress, is due largely to the invention of the first steam engine, often referred to as a "steam-power" or "Keldakhmai", named for the God of Invention, Akhmat.
This incredible innovation has propelled Isturian society forward immensely and is now leading the way for future inventions that can utilise the engine. Coal-fired steam engines are driving the economy and opening the way for conveniences never before dreamed of.
The use of boilers and pressurised steam has long been feared for being excessively dangerous, however the boom in popularity of the Keldakhmai has also led to inventors and engineers attempting to implement safety systems that reduce the risk of casualties and user error.
While it is still a new creation, the potential applications are nearly limitless and have already seen use in manufacturing, agriculture, mining and transport. Steam-powered water pumsp are allowing mineshafts to be dug even deeper to provide more coal. The coal industry too is experiencing an unprecedented growth because of this emerging technology. More mines than ever are being dug to fuel the coal-fired machines being developed, produced and implemented in every class of Isturian society.
Power Generation
Using coal as a source of heat, water is boiled in a large tank that produces steam. When steam pushes a piston up, the valve closes and water is injected, turning the vapour into a liquid and creating a vacuum that then pulls the piston back down. As long as coal is continually fed to the system, the piston will continue to move up and down, generating kinetic energy.
