Stonehaven

Scattered throughout the rocky valleys and icy peaks of Isturoth are mountain huts that provide food and shelter to mountaineers and travellers. What started as one such refuge in north-western Vašira, has steadily grown over time to become a well-travelled fixture of the area.   The town of Stonehaven provides a range of services, including shelter, meals and drinks, providing lectures and selling clothing and small items. These are frequented by travellers, traders, nomads, and anyone else passing through the area that requires a short reprieve from their arduous journey. It is nestled comfortably in a volcanic region, and has access to thermal hot springs, a feature it uses as a main attraction. People make an effort to visit Stonehaven just for a chance to relax in the hot springs and rest their weary bones.   Despite being located in Vašira, it maintains its status as a place of neutral politics and government. Because of this, leadership of Stonehaven insists that visitors abide by a set of rules that ensure its longevity, rules which discourage any violence or argument and encourage respect and indifference. Those who break these rules are quickly expelled from the settlement.   Another benefit of its location is that it is easily defencible, should it ever come under attack, though thankfully it has not ever needed to mobilise such a defence.

Points of interest

The primary points of interest in Stonehaven are its mineral baths and hot springs. Supplemental to these is its use as a place of rest and relaxation, of protection from whatever may occur outside its walls. Isturians travel from far and wide to gain the therapeutic benefits of a day spent in Stonehaven, unwinding and relaxing their sore muscles from long and difficult mountaineering.
