The Vaški Shepherds

In a remote part of Isturoth, a small group of civilians made a quiet life of isolation and tranquility for themselves, far from the politics and conflict seen all over the The Ironstone Mountains. It is said that, for centuries, the humble farmers and shepherds of the community (there were hardly enough buildings to call it a "town") known as Vaški had carved out a peaceful existence, one that many were well-acquainted and familiar with. Around that region of the mountains, they were seen as simple folk with a kind demeanour and harmonious way of life.   During the War of Ashes, however, this all came to an end. While they did not consider themselves to be part of any specific province or kingdom, conflict had come to their doorstep nonetheless. Whether they were caught in the crossfire of a battle that did not concern them or were attacked outright, it is unknown. However, there came a day when Vaški was wiped from the map, and the "Vaški Shepherds", as they had come to be known, were scattered. Though greatly diminished and ravaged, their community pulled itself back together with what resources they had left. To survive the roiling conflict that consumed the mountains, the Shepherds stayed moving, adapting to a nomadic lifestyle and never staying in one place too long.   Their tale lives on, for many are told of how, through the bonds of community and the spark of tenacity, the Shepherds survived the War of Ashes when they should have merely become casualties of it. More than this, they survived to this day, through numerous different troupes that travel throughout the mountains, spreading their values of family and peace to those who will listen.
