Aasimar

Overview

Aasimar are indistinguishable from other races and live anywhere, few people actually know Aasimar exist outside of those in religious circles. Truly all that is different about them is they have been chosen from birth as a champion of a God and have been blessed with radiant power within them. This does not happen often as normally Gods prefer to see the deeds of a mortal before choosing them. The risk of choosing them at birth is that they might reject the will of the God that has chosen them and use their power for their own means. Gods have learned that too heavy a hand in mortal lives can result in ruin. To combat this happening the Gods will send messengers to visit Aasimar in visions to guide them down the path of becoming their champion.   You can navigate to the Aasimar Stat Block here.

Appearance

The visual difference between Aasimar and other races is only seen when they use their innate radiant power where they have brief but powerful transformations.

Religion

Aasimar usually follow the Deity that has chosen them.

Subraces

Protector Aasimar

These are the Aasimar that accept their powers to become a champion of the Gods. They follow the guidance from their holy messenger and use their radiant might to serve as a protector of the weak and to keep back evil.

Scourge Aasimar

Upon being visited by their holy messenger some Aasimar will refuse to be properly taught how to harness and use their powers. However dispite warnings from the messengers they usually attempt to learn on their own, or pledge to never use their powers. The latter may work for a time, but as often happens they accidentally unleash it in a time of stress or danger without meaning to. This uncontrolled burst of searing radiant energy burns everything around the Aasimar including themselves, if they cannot gain control they could be consumed by it. Those who try and learn to use their powers on their own can succeed if they are careful, however without teaching the most they can do is keep from burning away in a blaze of light.

Fallen Aasimar

The fall of an Aasimar requires a commitment to evil. Whether they reject their deities' will in favor of darker beings, or if they are found by dark forces before their messenger can teach them enough and are corrupted. Even Aasimar who are on the right path can turn down a dark road when forced to experience terrible things. When an Aasimar falls the radiant power within the Aasimar is tainted and turns from light and life to shadow and death.
  • Though Fallen Aasimar have made a commitment to evil in their life, redemption is possible. However the road to removing the taint of evil on their souls is not an easy one.
