Gnome

Overview

The Maelstrom Isles have brought opportunities in many forms for all races and Gnomes are no different. Though small in size they are well known for their masterful works in many different fields. The finest ships on the waters were designed by none other than the famous Gnomish shipwright Diddle Dopplebeam.   You can find the Gnome Stat Block here.

Subraces

  • Forest Gnomes: not usually ones for leaving their homes Forest Gnomes would be a very rare find in the Maelstrom Isles.
  • Rock Gnomes: quite a few Rock Gnomes have set up shop among the peoples of the isles, they are a fairly common sight. Gears and springs, which are a somewhat new invention, fascinate them and when they get the chance they will fiddle around to see what they can make work.

Appearance

  • Gnomes stand at an average height between halflings and dwarves, roughly three to four feet
  • Gnomish skin ranges from very pale to yellowish-bronze to very tan
  • Gnomish hair has shades similar to elves though without the shimmering qualities
  • Gnomes have bright eyes, even if the coloration is dark they still seem to shine with life. They have blues, grays, greens, browns, golden, purple, and orange
  • Gnomish ears vary in length and pointiness, similar to Elves

Homelands in Western Rodain

  • Gnomish cities are sites to behold, Gnome’s love for invention and technology have made their cities sites of industry. They are usually located alongside mountain ranges where they can get steady supplies of minerals from the Dwarves. The largest Gnomish city is Fordleborg near the Krakt Peaks.
  • Gnomish villages are much quieter and cleaner places usually founded by Gnomes that wish a life away from all the business and grime of Gnomish cities. A place where they can tinker and build in peace and cleanliness.
  • Forest Gnomes have either integrated themselves amongst the Wood Elves’ hidden homes or have established their own hidden realms away from all other races.

Homelands in the Rest of the Known World

The Dou-chei people include Gnomes into their society; the Gnomes that live there are also considered Dou-chei and they are often seen in their caravans.

Religion

  • Gnomes normally worship the deities of others. Many are drawn towards the craft-loving Strongfather. While others prefer the kind-hearted and honor-seeking gods of the humans; it simply depends on the Gnome.
  • Forest Gnomes worship Nature.
