Grakhnanul
It is very normal to believe that all dæmons live in castles of black iron and volcanic stone, planning the subjugation of reality as we know it. But those are the big cities and the dark fortresses of the Fire Princes. If one were to travel into some of the less explored parts of the Tortuous Fire, one could find places that seemed hellish but more homely. Grakhnanul is one such place, but like many part of the Fire, the village's innocent appearance is meant to lead you astray.
Wrestling the Kettle
Grakhnanul is most known for its mine, which takes the form of a long covered pit with one large chimney which constantly belches out smoke. The dark colour of the cloth-like skins that make up this covering - it's not certain whether the skins were originally lighter in colour but darkened by soot, or even what creatures they are from - and the spout-like shape of the chimney have given the mine the nickname "The Kettle." Slaves who do the mining work are known as "Kettle-wrestlers" and the local folk are known as "Kettlers" after the structure. The burning means you're alive, and if you're alive, you can still workThe mine produces some of the most common metals found on the plane, such as the particularly dark-looking iron that is an iconic feature of dæmon armour and weapons. However, the Kettle is most known for its production of the red-orange metal known as Flamecopper. The extremely-sharp material has made the overseers of the Kettle extremely wealthy and keeps the town's economy afloat.

Points of Interest
Beyond the Kettle, the town doesn't have many interesting features. Like many dæmon cities, the houses and buildings of the town are completely utilitarian and tend to be rather cramped and uninteresting to look at. All this said, there is a remarkable bridge adorned with Flamecopper that crosses the Molten River and heads towards Verakhol. In addition, many locals take their work breaks in the gigantic-stalactite-turned-bar that is known as the Giraffe's Nod.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
