Ilmius Ólmakar

Approaching the smithy, you immediately find the blacksmith. He's of medium height and has short black hair. He's wearing an apron overtop of his black clothing, but you can't tell if the clothing is meant to be black or if the long hours at the smithy have stained it that way. He's currently putting his large muscles to work, sharpening a polearm nearly as long as he is tall. You can see a scattering of other weapons on the ground next to him that give an indication of the amount of work that he has on his plate.   "Hiya there, stranger." he says with a grin (or is it a grimace?). "What can I do you for?"

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ilmius is a buff individual, with long hours at the smithy giving him sooty skin and large muscles. Despite his stocky build, he is also surprisingly agile.

Facial Features

His face has got some scars from various burns, and his eyesight is starting to go from the bright flashes and the dangers of working at a smithy.

Apparel & Accessories

He tends to wear dark greys or blacks to cover up the soot, but his aprons are always white or light brown.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Ilmius's father was also a blacksmith and he taught his son the trade. After his father passed away nearly twenty-five years ago, Ilmius has run the smithy in Plainér Town ever since.

Morality & Philosophy

Ilmius is a fervent devotee of the Four, and so his philosophy matches what he has heard in sermons by the priests of that religion. This means that he leads a mostly good life, but sometimes he gets very harsh with people and is hardly innocent.

Taboos

  • He closes the shop on mornings where there is a service, and he sometimes doesn't even reopen after that.
  • Personality Characteristics

    Motivation

He doesn't like to have huge dreams or large-scale motivations, as figuring those out is a waste of his time in his opinion. All the same, he is intrigued by tales of the mountainous regions and would love to spend some time travelling there.

    Savvies & Ineptitudes

  • He is well-versed in many common weapons, armours, and tools, although he knows little about the making of other items.
  • He knows the town very well, and if he isn't beset by customers that day, he might even give a tour of the town if asked.
  • Likes & Dislikes

  • He dislikes idle banter, preferring to get to the point.
  • He enjoys talking with travellers though, and will make an exception for them.
  • Virtues & Personality perks

  • A hard-working attitude.
  • An enjoyment in helping others.
  • Vices & Personality flaws

  • A harshness that puts some people off.
  • Hygiene

He tries to keep himself clean, but the soot and dirt of a smithy makes that a challenge.

    Social

    Religious Views

He is very devout, and attends services every other day. He takes many of the religious teachings to heart, and uses them as a guide to leading his life.

    Social Aptitude

He is very loud and boisterous, and has no difficult talking to people. People can get put off by his harsh demeanour or his low social class, but he makes up for this with an unmatched curiosity. He has poor etiquette.

    Speech

He has a loud rumbling voice, and he isn't afraid to say what's on his mind.

    Wealth & Financial state

Ilmius is rather poor, as he has a large amount of weaponry for sale but nearly no one to sell it to. He is always waiting for travellers to pass through on their way to the dwarven strongholds in the mountains and therefore need to spend some money at his store, but this rarely happens. His house is very small and he lives there alone.
