Power Script

The deepest knowledge of the Powers cannot fall into the wrong hands. Please use the enclosed book for all future communications with the Temple...
— a burned note found in the house of a mage
The Temple of the Powers is a rather secretive organization. Seeing as it is simultaneously an organization that has religious secrets about the nature of their relationship to the divine and also a state that has political stake in the nations of Renath. This meant that a careful system of spies and informants became necessary to the continued existence of the Temple, as well as a system of codes and cyphers. These codes were eventually amalgamated into the new script used by adherents of the faith, leading to the Power Script.

Symbology

Power Script uses a collection of original symbols to stand in the place of words, particles and other necessary parts of speech. Having been based on Ardaenic grammar and phonology, the glyphs used in Power Script use such things as personal pronoun particles, case particles and accent markings, although these are meant to not resemble Ardaenic or any other Renathian language in any way.   To the uninitiated, the symbols of Power Script look like a decipherable mess of lines and arcs. This is because those attempting to "read" the script do so using a dictionary provided by the Temple to its informants and spies, and therefore do not need to actually memorize any of it. This dictionary also contains information on the transliteration of new words that are not currently part of the book.

Attempts to Decipher

Of course, the code for Power Script can be easily read by finding a dictionary and translating the text into another language. Magical spells that reveal the meaning of codes and ciphers will also translate the script into a language the caster understands. If the language is spoken aloud (although this is forbidden by the Temple itself), it can also be translated through the usual means.
