the Pantheon of Renath

May the Rainbow watch over you and raise you past the Wall when your time comes.
— Common Worshiper psalm
The Pantheon of Renath has had millennia to develop, deepen, and increase in scope. Every nation not under the aegis of the Temple of the Powers has at least a handful of angels, cherubs and deities that watch over it, and these figures answer prayers from the faithful. All in all, several dozen named creatures appear within the Rainbow, each one of its myriad of colours and with its own specialized domain.

Deities

These ones are the important major colours of the Rainbow; they were the ones who created the world and all the lower levels of the Pantheon. They control the major integral parts of creation and are often associated with a particular symbol and a colour. They number thirteen in all:
  • Aerin (dark blue) - goddess of the seas, whose symbol is a sea star;
  • Beruna (light blue) - goddess of healing and patron of professions, whose symbol is a hammer;
  • Dashai (black) - a deity of unknown gender controlling the dark and those who live there, whose symbol is a mountain riddled with caves;
  • Erasi (dark green) - god of the forests and the hunt, whose symbol is a fox;
  • Hortrus (grey) - god of thieves and rebels, whose symbol is a dagger;
  • Kalaila (yellow-green) - goddess of agriculture and livestock, whose symbol is a bull's head;
  • Meporis (brown) - god of learning and books, whose symbol is an open book;
  • Ourai (red) - god of war and bloodshed, whose symbol is a dripping blade;
  • Portrana (white) - goddess of light, whose symbol is a sun;
  • Vebrath (orange) - goddess of order and civilization, whose symbol is a diamond;
  • Walos (pink) - god of flowers and verdant places, whose symbol is a eight-petaled flower;
  • Yagar (yellow) - goddess of the desert and survival, whose symbol is a pair of sand dunes; and
  • Zolith (purple) - goddess of deception and caves, whose symbol is a spider.

Angels

The angels guide the people's of the world in more specific ways, the representatives of the deities of the Rainbow on the world of Renath. They often take more specific domains, such as a specific skill or a particular area of knowledge. Some examples of named angels include:
  • Afara (sea-green) - angel of sea navigation and beloved of sailors, whose symbol is a ship's wheel;
  • Garanir (vermillion) - angel of military strategy whose symbol is a map; and
  • Curenin (tan-brown) - angel of sheep herders and beloved of the Lafáiron, whose symbol is a ram's head.

Cherubs & Messengers

The angels and deities use a variety of smaller servants to bring visions and give their chosen heroes boons and miracles. These creatures have no name and are infinitely numerous, as they are created for their specific task from the deity's energy and return back to that energy when their task is complete. They are the most likely way that the average Renathian has seen the work of the deities and angels in the real world.
