Vileshlar
You're walking through the streets of Lerdelore when you catch a strong smell. The smell itself is rather disgusting, like a mixture of rotting meat and burning wood. It is coming from the other side of the district walls, leading from the Colour District to another larger district which you guess to be the Steam District. Despite a warning from your guide that the smell is "likely the harbinger of something nasty," you follow your nose through the gates.
The burning smell is omnipresent, and you feel your eyes sting a tiny bit from the smoke coming from a nearby smelter. But you also hear something: A baby crying. You can't help yourself but follow the sound to its source: a small ramshackle shed or hovel attached to the side of a Factory.
You search and find your way inside, and find yourself in a group of at least half a dozen children. None of them look to be over twelve or thirteen years old, but one trait stands out: they are all vileshlar. Each of them has small horns that are only just beginning to grow, as well as various shades of red or purple skin. One of the oldest among them is currently pouring a small bowl of water to give to the crying baby, which has purple skin and tiny bumps at the sides of its head.
All of them stop when you enter, their heads swivelling over to you. You immediately blush, recognizing a space where you do not belong. Then it strikes you; why are these children here? Where are their parents?
But one of the children begins to tug on your arm, a small girl of maybe five or six. "Mister, do you know where my mama is?" Her voice is weak and shaky, probably due to your scaly appearance and tendency to burst into the room unannounced, apparently. And you finally realize: if someone's child turned out to have horns and a tail and strange red skin, they might feel tempted to abandon it. This is what happens when you abandon a child...
Appearance
The vileshlar have a very devilish aspect which distinguishes them from their original race, whichever that might be. First, they have goat-like horns that protrude from the sides of their heads, taking a variety of shapes and curves. They also have short, pointed tails, which are often tucked into clothing so they don't get trod on. Their skin also has an odd hue, which depends from individual to individual, although they are usually red, purple or dark pink in colour.Beauty Ideals
There are two competing standards of beauty among the tieflings: the one attached to how they perceive themselves and one attached to how others perceive them. Many tieflings try not to hide or at least reduce their devilish features so they can fit in with tepilar standards of beauty. Others try to accentuate their features or make them more exotic, revelling in their strange appearance and flaunting it as much as they can.Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
The vileshlar don't have a central government or organization that runs them, although small bands of them have often made their own way in the world and try to help others. Many vileshlar head citizen's movements and other smaller groups that try to alleviate inequality and promote tolerance throughout Orkanis.
History
The demon armies that attacked Rosanri during the First War were very strong, but the intervention of the tepilar and weddelar turned the tide. Defeated, Pa'ilver went to some of the pools of vile devilish blood and concocted another new race, much as He had done with the grakonlar. However, the new race of the vileshlar was very disparate and had little in common, and many of them were still weak to the same sins as their demonic forebears.
For that, they were often reviled in society after the Great Sundering, leading to a great diaspora as they attempted to find somewhere, anywhere to call home. They lived at the fringes of settlements and cities, desperately trying to survive in the absence of a homeland. Many still do, although a recent increase in their numbers means they are only rarely turned away anymore.

Naming Traditions
The names of vileshlar come from corruptions of demonic names. Tieflings may also take on what are known as "virtue names", where their name is a trait associated with their personality or goals (like Patience, Generous, or Sailor). Male Names: Corithus, Mattias, Quinus, Zostoro Female Names: Karria, Prospera, Selesta, TarabinaLanguages
Among the tieflings, the land in which they were born will determine which languages they learn and use regularly. A tiefling born in the Kingdom of Loria will learn Lorian, for example, while a tiefling growing up in the Kral-Dogash might learn Weddic or Xertian. Tiefling families also teach their children Devilish, which they use if they want to communicate around other people without being overheard.Geographic Distribution
The diaspora of the vileshlar race after the First War means that they are found nearly all over the world. Every major city has at least a few, and some regions have more than others. They are particularly numerous in Kahari, as their natural magic and study of Devilish have been very useful to Kaharian scholars and they don't mind the desert heat.Remove these ads.
