Aging Ceremony
To mark the passage of time and the show the progress of a person's life. This celebration takes place each year to mark the anniversary of a person's birth. They happen each year and is a day of joy for most.
This common practice in Greenfall has spread around the area and is at least semi well known in most of the world. Many people that leave the city and travel elsewhere still practice this calibration and has caused it to grow more common in places such as Algrate where many cultures are brought together causing it to spread more.
The actual process involves the people to stay up at night with close friends and family members. They make small clay spheres that are filled will colors pigments. Each year has a slightly different color scheme that is associated with it, with it starting out with white as a child, moving on to yellows, greens, blues, purples, red, and finally oranges. Each of these phases lasts roughly 5 year with another 5 that is blending into the next color. Each age past 66 they use black.
1 - 5 (white/grey)
6 - 10 (white -> yellow)
11 - 15 (yellow)
16 - 20 (yellow -> green)
21 - 25 (green)
26 - 30 (green -> blue)
31 - 35 (blue)
36 - 40 (blue -> purple)
41 - 45 (purple)
46 - 50 (purple -> red)
51 - 55 (red)
56 - 60 (red -> orange)
61 - 65 (orange)
>66 (black)
At midnight the person that is growing a year older they smash the clay orb on the ground exploiting its contents into the air. It is the color associated with their new age. Everyone then grabs the pigment and sprinkles it over the person. Symbols are also drawn on the person's bare arms to grant them luck in the coming year.
