Black Tower

Purpose / Function

It's official purpose it to mark true north. The tall building in one located on the outskirts of one of the largest cities in the world. It is one of a set of four all marking the four cardinal directions.

Architecture

The tower is the tallest of the four. It reaches into the skies and is made of black stones. The base of the building is 10 meters on each side. Its walls are slightly sloped up for the first 90% of its height, with the walls harshly slopping in the last 10% coming to a point.

History

The tower was build in 1200 by the government in the area at the same time as they built the other three directional towers. The north tower was the biggest of these four, and is known to be the grandest and most important of them. However in 1400 the government was having financial problems and they have to sell the four towers. This tower was sold to a house hold that had ties to the Shadow Writers. 
Shortly after they acquired the tower the organization started to move in. The tower itself is hollow and had many rooms contained in it but up until this point it had only been used to mark direction. It was perfect for the secret order to use as a head quarters, so they slowly started to move in. In 1640 they officially made it their head quarters and it has been known as that since.
While the public is mostly hidden form what does on rumors have been spread about the tower. Most are non sense about how demons live there or how anyone how touches it will die. Many of these were speared by the organization themselves after some of the public started to suspect the tower as a way to scare them away form investigation.
