Golden Plague

Symptoms

The illness starts out slowly, affecting the carrier with exhaustion and weakness. During this time they are high contagious but many do not realize that they are even sick during this stage. There is no real danger in this phase of the illness, however the exhaustion and weakness, can make people prone to accidents. This stage lasts for about four weeks.    The second stage of the illness is the one that it is named for. The skin and eyes gain a yellow color to them. People during this stage are no longer contagious, however thought out most of history it was believed they were and people would be locked away. In addition to the pigmentation change, there is a also extreme vomiting and chills. Many people die during the week of this stage, mostly form dehydration.     The few that manage to survive the second stage recover from the illness for the most part. There skin recovered mostly form the yellow tone, but the color of the eyes remain. The weakness and exhaustion also remains making it almost impossible for anyone who survived the illness to do any manual labor. Causing it to be a death sentence to many of those to contract it even if the disease itself dose not kill you.

Treatment

In the year 2983 a cure for the ancient illness was found. By using a tonic made of various plants. Most of the ingredients are rare and it costs a lot to produce and as such it is very expensive and as such only to the rich can afford the treatment.

History

The Golden Plague has had its rounds though The World on many occasions sweeping though the lands and devastating people in its wake. The most propionate of these cases is when the plague hit Greenfall for the six years between 264 and 270. It was a direct cause to the fall of the Greenfall City Council as it affected most of the populous before they got involved in a war.
