Sir Felix Receives a Macabre Gift

Fall A.D. 496

At home in Salisbury, a Saxon messenger arrived at Newton Tony with a gift from Randwulf, the skull of Felix's broth Samwel, turned into a mug.

At King Cerdic's feast, Sir Felix had mocked Randwulf by drinking from the skull of his father Saexwulf. As revenge, Randwulf killed Felix's half-brother Samwel and turned his skull into a gilded cup, which he sent to Felix as a gift by the hand of his shield-bearer.
