Raja Ashoka Haathee

Ashoka comes from humble beginnings. Unlike many rulers in this world, Ashoka was not born into Royalty or leadership rather; his life started as a common blacksmith.

His story begins some 20 years ago. Ashoka was born and raised in the town of Puri, where his family, for generations, were local Blacksmiths. This was not by choice, for Ashoka and his family were labeled "untouchable" and unfit for anything else. For you see, the rulers of the Haathee before Ashoka's reign enforced a strict caste system. Which left Ashoka and his family, along with a large part of the population, forced to rules and jobs based on their birth rather than the skills they could learn.

Ashoka and his family were tasked with creating a great cauldron for the King. The cauldron was large that you could fit several elephants inside. King Valo indeed found it a worthy vessel, but the King was not satisfied he forced Ashoka and his family to test the vessel by boiling water in it over a great fire. Ashoka toiled to build a large fire, and with the help of his family, they put the cauldron over the fire pit.

King Valo lit the flames and, in his cruelty, had his guards force Ashoka's family to climb inside of the cauldron. King Valo kept Ashoka by his side and forced him to watch as his family was boiled alive. King Valo laughed and had Ashoka beaten as a reminder to the others of his village that they were "untouchables" and deserved this.

Ashoka survived his beating and vowed from that day forward that the Rain of King Valo would come to an end by his hands. Over a two-year period, Ashoka rallied those who would be seen as "Untouchable" and the lower castes to his cause. Ashoka systematically took apart King Valo's reign and personally boiled Valo alive in the same great cauldron.

After this victory, the people named Ashoka King. Once in power, Ashoka set out to dismantle the Caste System and start a representative parliament for the people of his lands.

Ashoka has now ruled over the Haathee for some 17 years and is beloved by his people.
