An unremarkable system at the edge of the Orion spur, in UNE spaceLeiar only had a minimally crewed starbase, a private sector He3 Mining operation on one of the moons of the gas giant Leiar V and a biological research facility in orbit around the Rocky tundra world Leiar IV. This all changed when the Awokenchose Leiar IV as the site of their new home and descended upon the tundra world with colony ships and transports.
Leiar is a Class G Star with a generous habitable zone yet even so, Leiar IV was in the more conservative outer quarter of the zone and with gravity 30% higher than earth it was not a comfortable world for humans. It had therefore been marked early on as unfit for colonization by humans but its biosphere still presented some interesting aspects, particular in the local flora. This was all immaterial to the Awoken who dubbed the world Risen and proceeded to found several equal size cities along its equator, with further settlements in strategic locations. While the sparsely staffed research outpost still exists in orbit the world is well on its way to becoming a technological and mining hub rather than a backwater research post.
Risen
Risen is a cold tundra world for biological beings but as the heavy duty Awoken shells are immune to planetary levels of cold this is of no importance to them. All in all, the world's sparse biosphere, relative flat terrain and abundant minerals made it ideal for the Awoken who chose it precisely because thay would not have to displace complex lifeforms. As a result in the ten or so years since the Awoken's colonization the planet has changed in innumerable ways, with deep pit mines, massive thermal turbines installed over active volcanoes and bets of solar collector arrays in orbit. Perhaps most surprising is the multiplication of the approximately 50.000 initial Awoken into several hundred thousand individuals. While there is no way for the Awoken to multiply naturally, the industrial requirements of their new society has led the new species to copy the consciousness of many of its individuals and install it into new shells, effectively cloning them. It is thought that most Awoken have at least two or three "clones" with some having copies in the hundreds.
