Giant Phase Koi
In The Desert of Quouribi , before it WAS the desert, back when it was a great and beautiful salt lake surrounding a small tropical island paradise topped by the Gods own vacation resort, the lake was home to the Giant Phase Koi. This was their only home, brought to life here by the power of the gods.
Giant Phase Koi were beautiful, colorful fish of unusual size. They swam in the water around the God's island, flew in the air around the Bexxa'wyld and flew through the island and tower, phasing through solid matter as easy as air and water. These fish phased in and out of the tower and the grounds of the island creating beautiful, colorful living rainbows, invigorating living things they phased through. It is said that swimming in the cold clear waters with them was healing to both the body and the soul. At night the fish cavorted and played in the light of the moon and Pea'alay, the planet around which Rit orbits. Their beautiful colors glowing in the dark and reflecting off the surface of the water.
The Giant Phase Koi were friendly and loved being around Gods and mortals alike. They especially loved mortal children and would play with them for hours, blowing bubbles that would encase a child and float it up into the air, then popping the bubble and catching the child on its back to fly it around the fortress of Bexxa'wyld. Children would take an instant liking to the fish, trusting them as they would trust no one else, creating a physic link to them and playing for hours in contentment.
The Giant Phase Koi were still fish after all, and so, when the Demons attacked and converted the water of the Quouribi to the desiccant sands it is today, all the Koi died out, becoming but a story of the ancient past. Many books have been written and art exists in many ancient places depicting these wonderous animals forever lost to time.
