The Aurora Port

Once a grand place, watching thousands of people pass by on their way too and from places, The Aurora Station now lies empty. After the catastrophe not many people were left to use its grand halls, and slowly the decades brought it down. Some structures, like the welcoming hall are still in fairly good condition, while you can’t tell others apart from a heap of rusted metal and shattered glass. Several animals have made their home in the abandoned shops, and birds constantly fly in between the intact parts. Sometimes people set up temporary camps within the walls, but it’s open design doesn’t do much to block the winds coming in from the sea.

Purpose / Function

The port was once the major connection between Crysalis and the rest of the world. Transports containing thousands of people or products passed by every minute.

Alterations

During the years it was operational several expansions were made. Most were for the increasing amounts of cargo ships, but two new ferry docks were added to be able to run the increasingly popular boats more often.

Architecture

The Aurora Port was built to be very spacious and lets in a ton of light through numerous windows. The ferry portion was more grand than the cargo docks, but even they fit in with the overall clean design. Most of the roof designs were inspired by sails, and the whole building had a flowing feel too it, fitting very nicely in with the sea.

History

The Aurora Port was built as a sign of the new peace, uniting the nations. The first ferries running between the countries carried carried their leaders, making official state visits. During the years several extensions were made to the port, until the day it all became abandoned ruins of a time past.

Author's Notes

Hello! And thank you for reading my article!
This was made during the Summer Camp 2018 challenge. I won't be editing any of these to keep them for looking back on. That being said some I'm really not happy with, so I'll most likely put up an edited version at some point. If I do you will be able to find the link on the top of the page
