Sons of Sekolah

Ah yes, the so-named sons of the shark-father... While they make for an enthralling legend, it does leave one wondering why there are so few living witnesses of them... - Triton Scholar

The true name of their race forgotton to the ages, these hulking shark-like humanoids now only identify as the Sons of Sekolah.

Disparate and scarce, they are almost never found within society, and are typically only encountered by sailors or fisherman in coastal areas on the fringes of society.

It is not unheard of for the shark-folk to work with other races, on the understanding that they will be given prey to hunt, food to eat and worthy foes to conquer.

The sons of Sekolah are highly sought after and respected by the Sahaugin, who rightfully see them as living avatars of their god, Sekolah.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

The shark-folk are fully amphibious, and are at ease on both the land and beneath the waves. Like regular sharks, they have an enhanced sense of smell specifically attuned to the scent of blood, which has been observed to send them into a terrible rage.

Different variants of the Sons of Sekolah have been observed, with each variety having physiological similarities to different species of Shark. This results in skin tone coloration differences, as well as more overt differences such as the distinctive 'Hammer' of the Hammerhead Shark. It is not known if these variants are different sub-species, or a natural/supernatural phenomenon.

It has also been observed that the Shark-Folk have an extreme natural resilience, and are able to recuprate from the most grevious of wounds with ease.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

What little information is recorded on the culture of the shark-folk is mostly small observations and scholarly deduction.

It has been observed that some shark-folk will ritualistically scar themselves in ornate patterns. Why they do this is unknown, but it is speculated that it is an ancient cultural practice, possibly peformed ritualistically in reverence to their god.

Common Myths and Legends

The origin of the Shark-folk is shrouded in mystery. Whether they are demi-godlike offspring of their dreaded diety or simply an ancient race on the verge of extinction is unknown.

One thing that is certain is their reverence for the shark-god Sekolah, whom they refer to as 'father'. Whether this is literal or a term of deep respect is again, unknown.

Since the events of The War of the Deep, where Sekolah was secretly sealed away, the shark-folk have been observed to be almost be compelled to wander, as if Sekolah himself is calling his sons and followers back to his side.
