The Spill was an environmental disaster that was a result of the Blightbringer's Wrath, turning a rich and fertile valley to uninhabitable wasteland and displacing the Tletci across the Mortal Lands. While plant life still seems to flourish, the land is all but devoid of any animal or insect life. [lake] stands still and dead, choked with rotting fish. It was a disaster, enabled by Memoric technology and wrought by Mortal hands, whose effects run unchecked through the rivers of [valley.]

The Fallout

At the Height of the Blightbringer's madness, the valley was at war with both a rampant pest known as [thing] and itself as the Blightbringer's methods began to hurt and impair the very people he was meant to protect. Chief amoungst the Blightbringer's weapons was a mysterious fluid that came to be known amoungst the Tlecti as 'Xocoakti', a loose translation being 'poison water'. In small quantities it had been used to deter insects from eating the wheat and vegetables grown in the valley, and had been effective in the ongoing struggle with [insect]. But then the Blightbringer went mad, and endeavored to end the plague once and for all... by pouring Xocoakti into lake [name], poisoning the water the valley was fed from.
While the Blightbringer was slain in the ensuing struggle, the defenders of lake [name] were unable to stop Xocoakti from being poured into the lake, released from its ancient containers by an explosion. Within minutes, fish began to float to the surface, dead and bloating. Despairing at the drastic change in the environment, a red flare was shot into the sky, followed by an Orange; The Blightbringer is dead. Evacuate.
The entire Tlecti people were displaced from their homes almost overnight, as Xocoakti ran its course through the rivers that drained from the lake to the sea. Thousands died, drinking unawares of poisoned water. Runners were sent to Mira in the north, and the rest of Shimsar to the south; [place] Valley is poisoned. Enter at risk of death.

The Aftermath

It would be years before anyone returned to [place] valley to assess the damage; The Blightbringer had been slain on the Night of Falling Crowns, and the resulting societal upheaval meant that anyone with close to the relevant scientific knowledge was unable to journey beyond their country's borders. Xocoakti was left to fester in Lake [lake], its rivers and tributaries running all the way to the sea. Only a desperate effort by a small band of adventurers armed with a Mechanical trained in Agricultural management kept Xocoakti from bleeding into the ocean. Even then, they did not have the tools to stop the Spill at its source.
Remarkably, most plant species within [valley] remain unaffected, likely due to the original nature of Xocoakti. [name], a biologist who originates from Shimshar, is hopeful that the land will swiftly recover once Xocoakti has been cleaned from the water. With new Pushes into other Memoric remains such as the Digital Forest, the Tletci search for a compound that will help them purify their waters and return home.
Eventually, though, the winds of change will shift once more, as the Tlecti look to reclaim their lost, corrupted homeland.
