Xigante
Larger than life they were! Even the ones you see now would pale in comparison to them. Too many years with their blood intermingling with the likes of normal folk. But back then! As tall as mountains, some would say! No one knows where they originally came from, but they made Dalreme their home, and no mistaking that.The Xigante are a race of humans who, through means that have almost been lost to time, are blessed with unnatural strength and height. It's said that in the old days a Xigante's thigh would best a man in girth, and they could carry an entire tree with one hand. While it is more common to see male Xigante, especially in written records, Women or women with Xigante blood are not unheard of. Xigante are also notable in that they are semi-impervious to magic; a Mage has to work far harder for anything he tries or conjures to have an effect on someone of Xigante blood.
The Lost History of the Xigante
While in official records it has never been stated where the Xigante hail from outside of Dalreme, recently found books from the Jade era suggest that the original Xigante hailed from Mira-specifically, the village of Linder when it was ruled by Agathodaemon. These books suggest that the Xigante were the Wizard's personal guards, suffused with Magic to be given their prenatural strength and stature. However, his processes also seemed to weaken their minds and dull their wits; Certain records show that they had to be paired with a normal human, to give them direction and make sure they didn't break anything. How these Xigante became the giants who ruled Dalreme in the early days is not yet known-Keon Dalreme, the first king of Dalreme and chieftan of the Xigante, was known for his exceptional intelligence along with his strenght and wit. However this was, it was likely a closely-guarded secret lest Agathodaemon came looking for these refugees. However, Agathodaemon died shortly after the first written records of Xigante appearing in Dalreme are recorded, so how close a tie this may be is hotly debated.
Lords of Dalreme
After their arrival in the northern mountains, the Xigante founded a kingdom that came to be called Dalreme. While Xigante were far fewer in number compared to the normal humans and the Gol-Smitts that lived in the mountains, they still commonly held positions of power, especially in military or matters of war. It was Keon's shrewd intellect that saw the kingdom through its early years, specifically electing both Xigante and normal humans to positions that would guide the kingdom in posterity, including relations with other kingdoms that began to form as Wizards around the world began to fall.
