Mottled Demesne (maatld deMAIN)

On the Night of Proclamation, a New Era was ushered into the land of New Frontier. Gone were the days of self-government. A new empire was declared, that of the Mottled Demesne.
The empire consists of dozens of countries, hundreds of city-states and thousands of miles of wilderness. According to the proclamation, there is not one grain of dirt nor drop of water that is outside the empire: its territories span the entire length and breadth of the natural world.
The map of the world is just as colorful and diverse as it always has been. Local monarcharies, republics, war tribes and free-peoples are allowed to continue governing as they have in the past under one condition. Everyone, everywhere, regardless of their heritage or past (kings and queens included), must aknowledge their subservience to the empire, specifically to the Queen Mother, eternal may she reign.
A state bureaucracy, the Commmission for the Preservation of the Mottled Demesne (COMPMOD), was formed after the Last War to deliver the proclamation and to uphold the Queen Mother's Laws. In some regions, COMPMOD makes its presense known through sheer military force. In other regions, like New Frontier, they have implemented a program designed to evolve the culture of the community to more empire-friendly, slowly, over the course of a few generations.
