Facets

Facets are beings that act as agents and avatars for a Deity. Due to the fact that a Deity's form is not material, Facets are their primary means of interacting with the material world.   Primarily, Facets function as incarnations of a Deity's domain in other universes. They act as intermediaries between other deities and mortals serving as a representation of the Deity's domain. As such, each facet is linked to their Deity (also called the Core Deity). They are similar to the concept of an Instance though they differ in some key ways (see below).   Every facet is a part of the deity itself, connected through a shared consciousness. This allows each facet to communicate with their Deity AND with that deity's other facets. As such, all the Facets of a given Deity can share information freely between each other. Despite their nature as parts of a larger whole, each facet is unique, with its own personality, opinions, outlook and behaviours.

Facets vs Instances

While Facets and Instances are very similar, insomuch as they are both representations of the same being, the two differ in a number of important ways:
  • A deity's facets are always aware of and can communicate with each other, whereas an individual's Instances cannot.
  • Facets are at least somewhat immortal, as they do not age or die naturally. Instances can be either mortal or immortal.
  • Facets are made by a Deity. Instances are not.
  • Facets are usually incredibly powerful, given that they are pieces of a deity. Instance can become powerful, but it is not innate.
