Elysia Enphyra
(a.k.a. The Veiled Spirit)
Elysia Enphyra was born and grew up in the large elven capital of Mythal Thalore. Her parents were Nesterin and Vestelle Enphyra, two highly trained alumni of the School of Evocation in Mythal Thalore. When she reached maturity, Elysia also started attending the university to study Evocation and be like her parents.
Her education was interrupted shortly when the Tenfold War broke. Most of the senior students from the school were asked to use their skills in defense of the city and the surrounding elven territories. Many of the professors and teachers also had to leave to fight on the front lines. Being a younger student, Elysia was forced to pause her formal education, which is when she started studying magic for herself from books in the library. Nor'Vagan and Genasi forces closed in on Mythal Thalore in 1672 T.A., and a two-week long siege of the city ensued. Elysia's parents were called to fight in the emergency defense force, but this angered Elysia. Why did her friends and her parents have to go and fight against Nor'Vagu and Al-Djinn-San, two nations which Elandir had never had any prior conflict with? She blamed Aurelia for dragging her nation and her people into the war.
For two weeks, the city was under siege. Nor'Vagan artillery pounded the city from the mountain ridges, and Genasi fought against the elven mages. Many died in the fighting, but the city held firm, and Elysia's parents survived the siege until the very end. Reinforcements from the Eightfold Confederacy arrived and broke the siege, and Nor'Vagu retreated. But as they fell back, they fired final salvos at the city to cover their retreat, and a rocket bomb struck the tower where Nesterin and Vestelle were. Both died in the explosion, and Elysia was left an orphan.
Elysia moved into the house of Aelan Sylmaer, her godfather, and an older professor of evocation at the university. But Elysia never forgave Aurelia for their fault in the war. She continued her study of Evocation magic and became quite skilled as a wizard. Soon after the war ended, Sibeel al-Haiya attracted infamy for his Resistance against Aurelia. Elysia immediately sympathized and started using her magic skills to attack Aurelian officers in the city. Almost every night, she would disguise herself in black and use spells like Misty Step and Shadow Blade to assassinate officers, and soon gained the nickname "The Veiled Spirit," from eye witnesses.
In late summer of 1674, Squad Chi visited the city during their investigation of the Aurelian super weapon. She met them at the university and introduced them to Aelen Sylmaer. She and El-Lakah also formed a friendship during a local Nor'Vagan country dance ball. When the team had to escape the city a few days later, she was able to rescue them from Curio al-Amiraal, the local Aurelian governor-commander, who was then revealed to be a Tiefling in disguise. She then joined Squad Chi on their journey and shared many adventures with them.
